For instance, when I first wake I am incapable of any kind of coherant thought until I have a cup of tea with a drop of milk in it (can't stand coffee) . I loathe black tea so the drop of milk is non-negotionable.

Is this likely to affect my fat burning efforts when doing AM cardio?

Dunno about your question, but can't you get some caffeine tablets and have them instead of the coffee with water? That's what I do and it would solve your dilemma.

The thing is I love tea first thing in the morning.

It's not just about waking myself up, it's about the taste (I only drink really good tea). For me a small pot of really good tea first thing in the morning, and again in the afternoon, is one of lifes real pleasures.

If having tea with milk first thing in the morning would make any real difference to my ability to burn fat whilst doing AM unfueled cardio, then I'd sooner give up AM cardio and simply do fueled cardio in the evenings, rather than give up my pot of tea in the morning.

I love tea (with a drop of milk).

Depends on how intense your cardio is!
People training in the marines have fry ups every morning and still lose fat.
so I cant see it hurting mate.

OK thanks fellas, that's what I wanted to hear.

When you listen to some people talk about AM cardio, you could almost be forgiven for thinking that if you allow anything to pass your lips prior to exercising, you're pretty much wasting your time doing it.

I'm not a big fan of morning exercise, but if AM cardio will help me cut some fat away I'll do it. I need my Tea first though.

I thought the milk would make a difference due to blood sugar levels?

Maybe, but how much of a difference?

It can't be that big a deal, surely?

If I can't have my tea in the morning, then I will not be able to do any cardio. I cannot function without it first thing.

I have been doing this for almost two weeks now and I'm starting to see results.

Maybe those results would be a little better if I didn't have any milk in my tea, but I cannot believe that the difference would be that much.

The bottom line is that I am beginning to see results, so I'm happy with that.

there's not enough milk in a cup of tea to make any sort of major difference to your blood sugar levels, i wouldnt worry about it

I wouldnt think 10-20 ml of milk in your tea would cause a problem with blood sugar levels too much

Saying you can not function without your tea is an excuse. You can function, you have made the decision you won't function.

Saying that, the tea won't make any significant differance in my opinion at all... so you will get adequate results.

Your imo being far too anal about it.

I have 2 large cups of coffee with milk in before doing my cardio.

No mate really, I cannot function without it.

Until I have my tea in the morning I am pretty much zombiefied.

I would not have it mate as i feel it would alter your insulin / glucagon ratio in a negative way for fat burning.

I do not know to what level it would alter your ratios, nor can i quantify the amount of fat you would not be loosing.

Its just sub optimal and why go about something in a sub optimal way?

Sub optimal or not, I need my tea with milk.

If the results aren't quite as good as they would be without it, then so be it. What matters to me is that I am getting results this way.

Drink your tea jango. Your not a Pro bodybuilder, your training should fit in around your life not the other way round.

You will not notice a blind bit of difference by dropping your cuppa.

If it keeps you sane then it can only be a good thing.
