Hi, i really like tinned mackerel but have a few questions.

Is there any danger from pollutants in tinned mackerel?

Is it safe to have 2 tins a day?

Does tinned mackerel have intact omega 3?

Does it matter if the tinned mackerel has some sauce in the tin with it from a nutrional perspective, ie damage of omega 3, protein etc?

thanks.

i made a thread a while back, no answer to it really.

an hour on the net says that officially you shouldn't eat for then 3 servings a week, but it depends because levels of mercury varies greatly between types of fish, and where the fish was caught.

realistically the chances of getting poisoned is unlikely, but its just that, a recommendation, i am sure if it posed more of a health risk it would be a stronger warning.

i eat kilos of the stuff and i seem ok lol.. had some good gains too

just be sure to factor the nutritional values of the sauce into your macronutrient breakdown

i tend to stick to the fillets in brine

Hi, i really like tinned mackerel but have a few questions.
Is there any danger from pollutants in tinned mackerel? Probably not.
Is it safe to have 2 tins a day? What size tins? Probably.
Does tinned mackerel have intact omega 3? Yes.
Does it matter if the tinned mackerel has some sauce in the tin with it from a nutrional perspective, ie damage of omega 3, protein etc? No. Tomato sauce is high in lycopene, a fat-soluble antioxidant.

thanks.
