Topper_Harley -> Training Advice (Apr. 28 2008 16:20:00)

Hi all. This is my first of, no doubt, many posts. Just wanted some advice. I've been training for 2 years but not really got any where with it, mainly due to a half @rsed attitude, consequently I've lost a lot of the small gains I've made. I'm at a point now where I've got my head in gear and am determined to learn by my mistakes and get some where. My main goal is hypertrophy. I'm 6'3", 196lbs, BF is around 21, 22 (not ideal but I can live with it). My frame is quite slim. So I'm not sure whether to try and get down to 10-12% BF before aiming to add lean muscle, or maybe have short periods of high cals to add some lean muscle slowly, keeping BF under control.

Can anyone advise on which way I should go about getting lean ?

Thanks in advance

get a weights routine sorted and monitor progression

eat a good healthy clean bodybuilder diet

start to cut your cals if your gaining weight until you are loosing about 1lb to 2lb per week.....

when you get lean up them a bit til your gaining 2lb per month

try to up them and lower them by manipulating carbs .... possibly lowereing them away from training if need be

Cheers for the advice. I suppose its just a case of keeping an eye on the BF. If its starts going up then I'll drop cals from carbs.
