CharlesXav -> Two questions. (Apr. 28 2008 21:23:58)

Question 1.

For as long as I can remember, pretty much since I was 11-12... I've had a sunken spot in my chest. It's on my right side in the middle/upper part of the chest and it just looks like a sunken spot in my chest.

Since I've started training, it's gotten a tiny bit more noticeable, but just the fact that it's there annoys me. My left side's is starting to shapen up at the bottom and get larger... looking more like a peck. The right side is getting a bit bigger too, but the shape at the bottom is wayyy less formed and the sunken spot doesn't seem to get bigger. So it's like the left side's upper middle chest is getting bigger while the right side isn't. I don't know whether it's how I'm training (my form) because I've had it for years before I started training.

I don't know what exercises I should do to even my chest out and/or to make it bigger.

Question 2.

I'm actually kind of paranoid about making my pecks look like boobs. Alot of my friends chests have started to look like womens boobs after working out. Some people say it's because they work out the upper chest too much, some say they work out the lower chest too much. I'm just wondering what exercises I should be doing to try to make my chest straight. Granted, I know genetics has alot to do with how your chest will look, but I was wondering which exercises I should avoid or do more of, so I can continue working on my pecks without making them look rounded and boob-like.

The routine I've recently started for my chest is

Incline Bench Press
Decline Bench Press
Incline Dumbbell Press
Decline Dumbbell Press
Flat Bench Press
Dips
Chin Ups/ Pull Ups with arms spread
Pushups (Incline, Decline and Regular)

EDIT; Found a pic from when I started working out. Though my chest has gotten bigger, the things in the picture still hold true. The right side is still not as developed (look at the curves beneath the left one, and the nonexistant curves on the right one). The black lines indicate where the sunken spot is.

Your chest will just grow whatever way it wants to, you cant make it not grow outwards or not make it round its not possible growth jsut happens. Your chest routine is way too much.
Decline Bench Press
Incline Dumbbell Press
Flat Bench Press
Dips
Cable crossovers

That is my chest routine.

To build an even chest (without having perfect form on regular bench or dumbell) use something like a smith machine or just a bench press machine because it will put equal strain on both parts of your chest.

Your pecs won't look like boobs if they're part of a well-balanced and well-rounded body overall; don't just pay attention to the chest. You need to have a big back and big shoulders to make a big chest look good.

The "sunken" spot in your chest may be due to genetics and there's nothing you can do about it. However, you are probably much more conscious of it than anybody else; with these sort of things nobody would ever notice unless it was pointed out to them, and then they probably wouldn't care.
