great vid, i did laugh at that shab guy who was in agony with the knee wraps. Are they really painful?

when you wrap them that tight yes. This is what i was told by T0NY

lol, you dont know what pain is until you put on a set of brand new wraps right on the skin. Feels like someone is ripping the skin off the back of your knee and then the loss of blood to the legs begins to add more pain.

I think I'll stick to knitting

BK - The Master Class included how to use the knee straps and wrap them correctly (spot the deliberate mistake ). It wasn't about heavy lifting but rather about correcting any bad habits that had been aquired over the years and to show the difference between powerlifting lifts and bodybuilding lifts.

I was gonna say-I wouldn't even advise knee wraps until you touch over 400lb

Damn... I would have liked to come up to Eccles too have a watch.
It's hard for me to relate to the powerlifters and the weights they shift as I train pure BBing but I am a big believer in tehre being a massive cross-over from being able to do both to a certain extent.

Tan, I expected you and Paul to sound more Salford'y!!!

Good watch

The first time is a shock. But there are levels of tightness that you can't imagine.

if I hand you a set of wraps and tell you to wrap tight you will wrap what you think is tight. we will call this level one. Level two is were i shout encouragement as you wrap. Level three is when I wrap mine for light weights, level four is when I wrap mine for heavy weights. level five is the start point for "tight" freaks, level six is where the "tight freaks" stretch the wrap before putting it on. level seven is where the wraps is pre-stretched and but on by someone else. Eyes water and blood supply is interfered with.

Most think that level two is where it ends, how much they have to learn. I never go past level four, but I have experienced level seven, all I could do was beg through the tears for them to be taken off. It's a funny old world.

Can I just ask though...why the knee straps? Will they not make your knees weaker so that you will always need to use straps?

The wraps promote knee health. They reduce next day aching considerably and allow heavier weights to be handled. This will actually improve your raw squat if you are so inclined. In the begining ALL powerlifters wrapped their knees. It's only since the equipment backlash started that "raw" was invented and knee wraps were ditched. Foolishly in my opinion

Excellent stuff Pete !

I love the way the Dog sort of watched Paul George wrapping up , then walks off halfway through (little things like that amuse me !)

Are there going to be a whole series of these on the Big 3 ? ... Hope so

I'm loving Pete's words of wisdom: "If you think you can do something... you probably can't"

To put this in perspective, all three of them were squatting high, not very high, but high and a considerable amount of shouting was need to correct this. The extra inch make a big difference so i told them to forget what they usually did both weight wise and rep wise and to go up in small increments only. Because this was something totally different that they were used to. So it was more of a "just because you normally do xyz pounds - don't assume you can do it today"

Generally, if you think you can do it - you can

Excellent video as usual Tan, and hearing Pete talk and explain squats again as a privilege!!!

And some very respectable weights being squatted no matter what people say about knee wraps or not.

Didn't watch the whole thing but you certainly dont need wraps for 3 plates unless you have knee probs.

So why did you use them on 3 plates when you did your set of 20 quarter squats?

You never stop learning. Only a fool doesn't take on board a lesson from someone more knowledgable.

PS - the dog can't bench
