aldo -> BB Row and lower back (Apr. 29 2008 2:12:13)

Today i was doing my BB row as usual...i was doing the most ive ever done...65kg, and for the first time in 8 weeks of doing them, i really felt them in my lower back while i was doing them...

My form was the same as usual, a carbon copy of http://www.coopersguns.com/videos/exercise-encyclopedia/lats/barbell-bent-over-row/

Now im unsure whether im suppose to feel it in my lower back...or for whatever reason i was doing them wrong and was basically injuring myself?

baring in mind i did heaviest session ive ever done on friday of deadlifts so my lower back was still a bit tight from that...

Its probably best to do bent rows before deadlifts as you don't want to work your lats whilst the lower back is weakened.

not too sure what you mean, i do deadlifts on fridays and BOR on mondays..

you lower back is a weak link in terms of muscle build/strength/endurance....
when you perform any exercise, you will feel it first in the weakest muscle group used in the motion.

in bent rows you feel it more in your lower back which indicates the above. its normal [:)]

keep it up, bent rows is a great exercise, as you progress with your deadlifts and lower back development you will feel it more in your upper back as the 'weak links' shift [;)][:)]

are you sure your lower back was not rounding, try keeping your head up looking forward.

I agree with the statements above about the limiting muscle but this post here is worth dwelling on, make sure that you're setting you lifting posture with the feeling of pushing your arse out not bending over, this will help.
