Why would it make a difference to my insurence?

yeah, why would having your license revoked make any difference to insurance?

I imagine you'll find it probably will make a good sized difference.

But 6 points allowed in 2 years is very harsh.

Im a safe driver, all my points were on large roads at quiet times when I didnt expect police to ambush me.

But some old guy with bad eye site and bad reflexes is allowed 12 points, its just not fair. Im a better driver then most on the road who are allowed 12 points, not to mention women drivers.

Its not fair.

lol.

But 6 points in 2 years is harsh in my opinion. 2 years is a long time, espcecially when you spend as much time in the car as I do.

mate i got 6 points in the space of two months (after about 3 or 4 years of driving)

one was for speeding at 3:30am the other was for jumping a red at 4:30am

i am not naive enough to deny the fact i was speeding everytime i drove at that particular time, i saw a 30 in a red circle and did 40, etc
the only place i didnt speed was on a motorway
at the time i was doing about 25,000 miles a year so i doubt that you are doing more then this

i am now halfway towards getting the points off my licence but if i am honest you will get well and truly butt fcuked by the insurance, if they will touch you
you will have to sell the audi and buy a car with maybe a 1 litre engine for 2-3 years

i know this isnt what you want to hear but old man of 70+ that cant see didnt get caught for speeding did he?

you are now effectively, in the eyes of the insurance company.....

a) a new driver
b) a driver who likes his right foot far too much
c) a driver with no no-claims

now ok you are not a 17 year old with the above elements but a years no claims will half your insurance, so the lack of this will mean what you were paying before (assuming you have you're own insurance policy and are not a named driver) will apply

but double it for the points and the fact that a), b) and c) apply

it depends on your postcode as well but audi's are expensive on insurance, i do not knwo where you live or what engine size it is but i will assume at least £3000 pounds per year

and hopefully a lesson learnt

I know loads of new drivers manage not to get points in 2 years but I still think its harsh.

As for the insurence Im sure that Ill be fine even though Ill have to pay more, but Im going to lose alot of money anyway, the only positive I can take is to learn from this lesson and when I get my new licence stick to the speed limits...

Somone told me that I could do my driving test in my own car if I put L plates on.

I've been driving for 2.5 years and i've got no points.

If you obey the limits then you don't get done, simple.

I have in my time received 15 points for speeding including 3 points whilst driving a VW camper van with a 55mph top speed.

Did I whine about the injustice of being punished for breaking traffic laws?
No - I paid my fines, paid the additional premiums on my insurance and tried to drive at a more reasonable speed or accept I'll have to pay a price for speeding.

You're a new driver.
You're a young driver.
Therefore additional restraints are imposed until you can display an ability to control your vehicle. Quite clearly receiving the points hasn't had much of an impact so quite simply, if you don't want to get caught speeding, don't speed in the future.

Alternatively swap your shiny Audi for my rusty Nissan and you'll have no trouble exceeding the speed limit. You might have a problem with reaching it, but as for exceeding it, you'll be fine

Oh, and welcome back.......

lol.

Fair enough, opinions acepted.

Im not crying about it. But I cant help it if I feel depressed over it. Maybe Im immature. But Im not a robot. Im a kid who wont be able to drive the car I love so isnt it understandable to be upset?

On a seporate topic dont people think that the speed camera system in this country is more aimed at making money than promoting saftey?

do you think kids in fast cars bought by daddy are more likely to be wreckless dangerous drivers?

Id say they would be safer drivers for two reasons, to look after a nice car and to avoid daddygiving you a thump.

Much safer than some kid whos dad is on benefits and is speeding around in a stolen corsa high on weed with 2 chav girls in the back seat hes trying to impress.

I could be wrong.
