PW Firstly thanks for brightening up a dull day for me.
Im not sure brickie is actually a forces trade, maybe REME but whatever you choose, youll be s solider 1st and your trade job second,so i dont think its for you

You seem like a decent lad who just needs a chance, try some voluntary work, youll build confidence and you never know were it may end up.
Dont go jumping into anything like the armed forces or running off from your problems, just get a plan and keep trying,my mates didnt find a trade for years and now does well,i know you just want to try and to get a chance but this aint it mate

Well I’m not sure you can judge someone properly from posts on the internet. People can and do change.

I think PW you should seriously consider the army. The chances of dying or getting injured are probably much, much lower than you might be imagining.

The army can make the decision as to whether you are right or not for the army, not MT members judging from your posts.

Your current attitude might be suspect, but the army might open/change your mind about a few things.

As for your pros and cons list, well I’m not sure how many of the guys out there serving agree with the war, but from what I’ve seen and read, the soldiers out there fight for each other, watching each others backs, that’s what’s important when you’re in the thick of it – looking after your friends you’ve grown so close to - leave all the politics for someone else. Your money will go up as your career progresses, I know a few people in Aldershot who have made a good living from it (now living in Australia, with the army).

I think you will get qualifications / trade for the future, you will become more of a man, you’ll make lots of friends (for life), have a laugh, and yes you’ll be able to save up money. I think it’s a good move.

PW, where abouts in the country are you? I'm sure i've seen a job advertised today for a trainee builder that might suit you, i'll have to go check where abouts it was and edit this post in a minute.

Failing that, get yourself down to a building site near you and ask for work. Or even ask any builders that you see working if they have, or know of any jobs going. Start as a labourer and work your way up.

And if you don't want to join the army but really need to become a man, get doing a martial art and get some discipline that way. I'm sure theres a few people here that would be willing to spar with you

Edit: That job is in Skelmersdale. Check on jobcentre website ref code SKM/25392 if its of any use

Bristol eh? I'm sure when i drove through there last year that theres lots of building work and changes going on in the city centre? Thats a good place to start mate, you will be surprised how effective it can be when you just turn up at a site asking for any jobs going. Can't guarantee anything but its worth a try mate

Just looked on jobcentre website and found a few jobs for you PW. They aren't the best jobs in the world but will give you some experience and possibly open doors to better opportunities. Once you have gained experience and show willing, you might be able to make new contacts that can set you up to train in something that you enjoy doing

Go on jobcentre website and type in the reference code on 1st page of job search

BEG/33050
BCH/23449
BIW/12500
KIM/31558 Carpenters mate

If you look around http://jobs.thisisbristol.co.uk/ theres a few more opportunities.

By the sound of it PW is a lazy b'stard and more so completely thick. Surely anyone with common sense wanting a job in any trade would visit the job center and their local college. Why do so many people get taken in by these morons??

Thats a bit harsh mate! I honestly dont think PW is a troll, i just think he sometimes loses the connection with his brain and fingertips when he types! Weve all been guilty of that at some point, I also think that he just goes ahead and asks a question, if it happens to pop into his head, not always a bad thing. I can think of far less useful members here, who just post stupid slang one line replies to everything, they irritate me far more.

All these 'bar-stewards' as he puts it seem to be the ones with actually experience but I guess he does not want to hear that. As for judging him from his posts, Why Not. His words paint a very clear picture to me.

Want to work on building sites? Then get your lazy ar*e down to a site and find some labouring work, Get off the net and travel round every builder in Bristol (there must be hundreds) , each and every day until you find yourself a labouring job. Prove you can do that or would that be to much?
Once you prove yourself to a building firm talk to them and see if they would put you through an appreticship. I think thats simply to much effort for your drug fried Brain but please do prove me wrong.

Good advice mate.Jobs don't come looking for you,you have to get off your backside and make an effort. And with the influx of European builders/brickies it is even harder.

You come across as lacking motivation and seem to want everything handed to you on a plate. If only life was that easy mate.

Seriously what is your post all about mate what part of Armed and Force dont you understand?

If you are as daft as you appear I don't know if i'd even employ you to empty the bins. Show a bit of saavy and respect to the brave people that lay down their lifes for their country and their comrades. If your that fed up with neds, asylum seekers and dole scroungers do something about it, do something positive.
