ok but is is difficult for us to check that the vast majoraty of bulk suppliers have websites that are a disgrace they tell litle in terms of the compositio of what is in the products I have not come across one which I though presented the info in a decent way maybe if it is like that people cannot get it very well and they can get away with lots of stuff I don't see anywhere that says it is a 200 or 120

ORIGINAL: paulom will margins affect quality? At least not in an obvious way and not in the single ingredient products. As an example Creatine is relatively cheap to buy - retail and wholesale. There are grades. Typically 120 mesh - quite granular and considered low grade although as clean as any and 200 mesh. Also called micronised or ultra fine. Again as clean, in terms of purity and all things being equal, as the 'low grade' 120 mesh. Another example would be volume against margin. If I sold a lot more than I do I'd accept a smaller margin but the product would remain identical. It has been argued recently that price increases in milk proteins including whey will have affected margins and so companies either put up their prices, swallowed the loss or, which would be bad, changed the formula. Some mentioned they had and others did not. If a product changed and the price remained the same I'd want to double check it. This volume issue is one major reason prices have fallen over the past few years. Can anyone else remember when Maximuscle Cyclone was 70 quid a tub? I remember when I was a teenager buying supplements, and 50 quid for a tub of protein (in the mid 90's) was pretty normal. Back then however, you had a total supplement market...of...what? 200,000 people in the UK? Now you have millions of gym goers buying supplements every month. I'd say that in an average bodybuilding gym, probably 99% of people are active supplement purchasers (ie. protein, creatine), and probably 60% are active AAS users. In a fitness facility, probably 70% are active supplement consumers, and 20% AAS users. No figures for this, but I'd expect if you just think about your mates and other people you know who go to the gym, this is pretty accurate. That makes a market of probably 6m people.

Cos if not we usually model ourselves on others and put up what's required. I could take issue with the idea that you seem to want more from a bulk supplier over a 'brand'. That in and of itself speaks volumes. Selling a fair old amount and being admin on my site means I can change anything I need to. I used to update, tweak, etc the site constantly but have not been asked to add anything on the composition of our products for ages. I've added new ones and amended some to show they are drop shipped but that's it recently. I also used the 120 and 200 mesh as examples. I've never seen 120 or 200 mesh size mentioned ON ANY SUPPLEMENT WEBSITE EVER never mind bulk companies. MetRx used the 'micronised' term on their product but that's it.
