How long have you had lower back problems? how long ago did you injure it?

been injured about 2month now, been to chiros and physios but since im on dole at min i cant afford to go back, its getting better very very slowly. i use ice packs a couple of times per day.

i think the pain is more muscular, my spine is fine but i still get an aching pain and bendin over and using my lower back increases the pain. but i have been doing back extensions l8ly pain free so im getting better. i wana be sure im ok b4 i start deads.

Well, I admire the fact you've kept training the best you could given your circumstances. Can't be easy, sounds like a pretty bad injury there.

It might be a flexibility issue. For example; if your hamstrings are tight or you lack flexibility in the posterior chain muscle groups, it can cause lower back pain. Hyperextensions are a great alternative to Deadlifts.

Stretching is something which tends to be overlooked quite a bit. A lot of injuries come stem from flexibility issues.

Some guys get so obsessed with size, they kind of shun everything else and end up getting so big they can't even tie their own shoelaces...lol

Do you stretch regularly?

How can you be 'bigger' than someone who has a bigger back than you, when it's the biggest bodypart and carries the greatest illusion of size.

yeh i think this is right, and no i didnt stretch regular but am tring to these days, my hams, quads, glutes, and hip flexers are all tight and my abs and lower back are weak imo.
i never paid any attention to this till i injured my back and found all this out

I have a pretty big/wide back (not great traps, shoulders or arms though) and if i see someone who has well develpoed arm and shoulders i auotmatically think they are biger than me, when theyre proably not...

It could be in your head....i mean dont take that as definitve as an answer but from my experience a bodybuilders worst critic is always himself.

^^ Beefycol...Exactly what i mean mate.

Or ..when you stand in the mirror and mentally beat up on yourself over an aspect of your physique wheteher it be to do with mass or definition etc....be it real or imagined. I do it all the time..its one of the biggest motivational tools for me personally..i critisise myself and then make firm resolve to come back looking better the next time.

Most of its genetics imo, but dont let that stop you...
If you dont do so already get some deadlifts into your routine.
for traps do lots of heavy shrugs supersetted with upright rows.

if your really struggling with back try splitting it up into two days, really focus on form and sqeeze the contraction, alot of people use their biceps for back excercises try to focus the tension your back:-

Day 1- width
-wg chins
-lat pull downs
-bb rows underhand grip
-DB pull overs

Day 2- thickness
-Deadlifts
-DB rows
-Cable rows
-CG pull downs

cable rows hit lats more than anything else, not really a thickness exericse

and so do db rows - lat exercise

They'd need a decent back to match up with the arms/delts otherwise it stands out that they have little back mass and thus you wouldn't think they're that big. So if that flaw doesn't stand out then they have a good back and good/great arms and delts thus they probably are 'bigger' than you.

From your pics there's nothing wrong with your arms and delts, you need to add size all over, upper body anyway.
