Hi

My friend was training his triceps yesterday, nothing heavy. Today he has two identical bruises on both of his arms. He would like to know if that is normal; he is fairly new to weight training.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

did he use a machine where he had to place his arms on a pad?

(tricep extension machine, you hold two handles and push them down like a reverse barbell machine curl)

No, it was just pulldowns with a bar and a stack of weights in front.
