Hi Guys,

I've been bulking for the past few months and made good gains, but now i've decided to change my diet and training routine to cut up in time for summer..
I've decided to now do 'whole body' workouts with weights on Mon, Wed, Fri.. I will also start doing some cardio on Tues, Thurs and rest on the week end..

My typical daily diet is as follows: - please advise on changes i should make or any useful information that would help me to tone up and loose bodyfat..

08:45 - 2 weetabix with milk & protein shake
11:30 - 1 apple and 1 banana
13:30 - either a chicken sanwhich or chicken baguette or pasta
16:00 - protein shake & a banana
19:30 - TRAINING FOR 1 HOUR (either weights or cardio)
20:45 - protein shake & a little curry, 2 chapatis and salad
23:45 - Protein shake before bed

I understand that my meal at 20:45 of curry and chapati isn't ideal, but as i'm indian that's pretty much all we have at home for dinner.. also i cant have meat in my house so it's usually vegetable curry.. Are there any quick, easy to make alternatives i could have instead, bearing in mind it cant be meat?

Thanks in advance for all feedback...

way to much protein shakes, need a few lean sources in there. also try adding in some carbs pre and post workout just to give you more energy.

alot of fructose in there ie apple banana.

switch the protein shake at bedtime to 300g of cottage cheese as its a slow digesting protein.

do a search on muscletalk for tvp "textured vegetable protein" perfect for your curries to rase the protien levels as this stuff is approx 50% protien and extremely cheap.

Thanks for your input get_bigger, much appreciated...

and 'arnold' believe me, i know the curry for dinner sounds lousy, so i will be changing that very shortly!! although i cant stand seafood so i thought maybe a handful of nuts instead for my 11:30 meal as a protein source??

'lean sources', i'm guessing you mean like turkey, chicken tuna etc..

i understand the importance of slow releasing protein at night, but i cant handle cottage cheese, so i'm gona change it to protein shake with milk, i've heard this releases protein gradually?

My new revised diet is as follows:

08:45 - 2 weetabix with milk & protein shake with water
11:30 - 1 apple and 1 banana & a handful of almond nuts
13:30 - 2 roast chicken breasts or 1 roast chicken breast with brown rice or brown pasta
16:00 - Banana
19:30 - TRAINING FOR 1 HOUR (either weights or cardio)
20:45 - protein shake with water & a little curry, 2 chapatis and salad
23:45 - Protein shake with milk before bed

- in the next week or so, i'm gona try having something like quorn and try to find some 'textured vegetable protein' for dinner, as i cant have meat in my house, instead of my usual curry and chapati for evening meal..

I think this is slightly better, but i still have 3 queries..

1) is the brown pasta or brown rice enough carbs for my lunch and what type of carbs should i be having pre and post workout??

2)is the protein shake with milk before bed a good source of slow releasing protien throughout the night??

3) any other tweaks i could be making to this revised diet, bearing in mind i am looking to cut down on my bodyfat and look more toned and cut??

Thanks for any response to my questions and all or any advice would be great

Hey guys, thanks alot for all the advice.. After reading what you fellas have had to say, i went shopping today & varied my diet plan to this:

08:45 - 2 weetabix with milk, protein shake with water & pure cod liver oil capsule
11:30 - 1 apple and a handful of almonds
13:30 - 1 roast chicken breast with brown rice (sometimes i'll have it with brown pasta for variation) and vegetables (carrots, cucumber, lettuce, sweetcorn, tomatoes etc..)
16:00 - 1 banana & 2-3 oat cakes
19:30 - TRAINING FOR 1 HOUR (either weights or cardio)
20:45 - protein shake with water and dextrose powder, 1 tablespoon of flax seed oil
21:00 - Textured vegetable protein or quorn with vegetables
23:45 - Protein shake with milk before bed

really soon i'm going to get some casien protein to have before bed instead of whey protein and milk..

i think this seems like a big improvement on what i posted here before as a diet but if anyone can see any changes i should or could be making then please tell me..

thanks again..
