Hay, Im on a cut and really wanna eat oats for brekky because I love em But the problem is I go hypo off them very easy!

Even when I have fat with them. This is my Diet:

7am
40g whey in water with 1 tble spoon of ground flax seeds
70g oats with water and 1/2 glass of whole milk
5x1000mg fish oil

10am
170g chicken
200g cooked brown basmatti rice
10ml EV olive oil
10ml sweet chilli sauce

1pm
Same as 10am

4pm
Same as 10am
5x1000mg fish oil

5pm
train/cardio

6.30pm
same as 10am

9pm
150g lean steak
65g noodles
mixed veg
10ml sesame seed oil
(stir fried)

11pm
500g fromage frais
sweetner

Now I still go hypo off this around 9am when working ( Im lifting heavy ass stones all day :<)

I was wondering if there was a low calorie solution to slowing down the oats? Would not cooking it slow it down more? Not keen on having more fat as I have lots with my other meals too to slow down that food too

BTW I dont get this when I have slices of burgen bread with peanut butter & jam for brekkie, this was my old brekkie but I need a change & I love oats ALOT!, the reason I stopped taking oats a year ago was because I was going hypo off it.

Oats are already partially cooked so you can eat them after soaking if you want. Oats are slowly absorbed so it's odd that they should cause hypoglycaemia.

Could it be lifting the heavy ass stones that's making you go hypo as that burns shed-loads of carbs? If this is the case, eating more oats will help as this tops-up muscle glycogen more. If eating more oats makes things worse, add the ground flax to the oats and remove the whey (as whey produces an insulin spike).

Great post Nigeepoo

Considering that the hypoglycemia occurs 2h post consumption it appears as though the culprit is overall insulin release, as opposed to a rapid spike.

There's a lot going on with that meal, so there's probably a combination of effects. The milk also causes a massive insulin spike, in spite of the fat content. I'd eliminate that as well.

Keep us updated!

Cool, so milk would be spiking too? Ok Ill rid that, add more ground linseeds. What you recommend instead of whey? Ive been having scrambed eggs for ages for brekkie so dont want that! What aboput peanut butter with my oats?

I wanna keep my brekkie around 500 cals.

Any ideas?

Sam
