this is clearly a very touchy subject to many ppl

what i feel irratates many (and as such causes some to break limits) is the "1 size fits all" black & white aproach of speed limits- particularly speed cameras

no 2 cars are alike, no 2 drivers are alike, and no 2 driving situations are alike

compare a bus traveling at 60mph on A road to a lightweight sports car at 60mph

the momentium (and therefore damage potential) of bus is FAR greater
the braking ability of the bus is FAR less
the manoeuvreing ability of the bus is FAR less

and yet the law states both vehicles can travel at the same limit

were we to factor in mass of the vechicle, if the typical family saloon weighing 1400kg, is traveling at 70mph (32 m/s), that equates to a momentium of 44800 kgm/s

typical bus at about 7000kg traveling at 70mph, momentium is 224000kgm/s!!!!

the above is all paointless really, its not safe to have some cars traveling at 120mph with highly trainined drivers at the wheel and others driving at 60mph with lower spec cars etc etc, but where a switched on policeman may be able to take into account conditions, car etc etc, the Gatso does not
