Re: the US bb's article, a culture of litigation seems to keep most things safe over there. We still have ****e loads of apartame in our food, but they don't over there.

And also they've got all that yummy, nutritious high-fructose corn syrup in nearly all their food.

Poor old Britain, eh?

I bet you do.

What is it makes you think that the Americans don't buy food laced with Aspartame?

british beef is the best, you just got to go to a decent butcher to get your cuts.

part of the problem is that beef called british may be from breeds of cattle which are not even in britian if you are paying for british. you should get british. if you do not care fare enough but you should be able to eat what you think you are eating and pay accordingly

being in America twice a year and reading the back of packets.

any more obvious / silly questions you'd like to ask?

You're asking me to accept your 'one-man survey' as evidence?

Again?

By all means point me in the direction of a proper study or article that indicates that US food manufacturers use less aspartame than British food manufacturers.

I'm sorry, I didn't realise I needed to give you a double-blind study in every net conversation we have.

Fact is - and if you can disagree with me if you want, based on your extensive US travels - when I'm over there, I see a lot of "aspartme free!" labels on goods, and the whole dangers of aspartme story is very well publicised. Here, I see very little of that, and most foods tend to use it as a sweetener in place of sucralose.

As a result of this public interest (I'd assume), they've even introduced a Diet Coke sweetened with Sucralose, and I think Wal Mart of one of the other big supermarkets, EXCLUSIVELY sweetens their cola with sucralose.

It's a bigger issue over there, with more awareness and action, than it is here, probably because the litigation threat is far more severe.

And you think that Aspartame is more of a public health hazard than High-Fructose Corn Syrup?

hang on, easy tiger. to move your questioning on, you must have accepted that aspartme is a bigger public issue in the US than it is here?

You must have accepted my point that aspartme is a bigger public concern in the US than it us here. Otherwise, the debate hasn't moved on, you've just dropped the last line of questioning due to a lack of any counter evidence.

So, do you now feel that aspartme is a bigger public concern in the US, than here, or should we bottom out the point?

Well you've not presented any credible evidence that it is.
