All, I've managed to pick up a shoulder injury, and in my (stupid) attempts to work out on wednesday, i have firther aggrevated it. Although its not "too" bad, i do feel it and i think, as much as i don't want to, i need to just suck it up and take some time off from the gym. I was thinking of taking two weeks off to let it recover. My questions ar 1) In these two weeks off, will i lose any of the muscle gains i have achieved? 2) Should i still work legs, as most of my leg exercises avoid my shoulders being involved? Or should i stop all training over the two weeks? I will still continue to keep my diet in place. Thanks. Milto

1) 2 weeks isnt enough to loose any muscle gains 2) go ahead and do your legs if it doesnt affect your shoulder you should see how your shoulder has recovered after a week as muscles repair themselves pretty fast. start doing 1/4 of what you usually lift to see if your shoulder can handle it.

I read your post with interest and would be interested to hear how your shoulder recovers. I have been plagued with a shoulder injury for nearly 18 months now. I'm still not sure how I picked up the injury but rested from the gym for 4 weeks went back, still there etc etc and it still didnt go away so I just continued to train The weird thing is although i can feel it during workout the pain isnt too bad and I can still do a full work it with it, just nagging and usually the next day its like a dull ache and a bit stiff but never really goes away. Recently i finally bit the bullet and went to see a consultant who couldnt find anything obvious wrong with it apart from the fact that he said I had bad posture and made me sound like a 90 year old man!! Anyway he refered me to a physio. The physio told me it was likely i suffered from Hypermobility syndrome and I shouldnt use the gym at all and asked me why I wanted to exercise! (Naturally coming from a sports physio I found this strange and didnt start our meeting off well!!) Anyway, I was a good boy, quit the gym and just did the exercises she told me to do over 4 weeks (none of which were shoulder exercises but aimed more at core muscles, Transverse Abs etc for posture) Shoulder still the same, no change and on researching myself and loking at the Beighton measure for HMS, I certainly dont have it!! So short of going back to my consultant if anyone has any ideas what this might be would be useful to hear as resting doesnt seem to cure it and I want to get back in the gym

As TIO said, go see a good physio. Lay off anything that aggrevates it.
