I know coffee can affect the creatine going into your system, but how drastic is the affect? I've started a new job and I seem to get a coffee made on the hour every hour! Also, I'm taking the creatine in my PWO shake with Dextrose. Is this ok? It's just standard creatine.

Caffeine blocks adenosine, which makes the cell think it is full, so it inhibits nutrient uptake, including water -- it dehydrates the cell. If you're serious about getting the most from creatine, avoid chronic use of caffeine. Scientific studies show that the equivalent of three cups of coffee per day for as little as three days is sufficient to completely negate the benefits typically afforded by creatine . hth ?

Ok, next question.... As I've already been through the loading process, would cutting down on coffee help, or do you think I should re-load?

I did drink a bit of coffee in my old job, but not as much as I do now. Think I'll stock up on creatine and reload. I'm starting a cut in a week so I'll be cutting milk and sugar out of my coffee anyway, which should put me off it a bit!

How does it work then that products like NOXplode and most other pre workout supps have both high dosages of caffeine and creatine in doesnt the caffeine inhibit the creatine then?

caffiene has no negative effect on the uptake of creatine, the original creatine studies used caffeinated tea. ANd subsequent studies have found no negative impact on uptake. a single study has found that caffiene negated some of the performance benefits, dynamic torque. Almost certainly due to poor hydration (since the performance loss is similar to that found with hypohydration) if using both creatine and caffiene you will need more water intake. as a note most stims deplete potassium (which is generally low in the average diet to begin with).

Apart from the first one of the day, I generally have decaf tea throughout the day now. Tastes just as good.
