me and the training partner were in the gym earlier having a chin-wag waiting for another lad, when a couple of lads we know started taking the p1ss a bit saying I never get down to serious training, all in good spirits though. Then this c0ck they train with chirped up "yeah he only stays for 5 minutes as well", to which I replied "what I do's enough for me 5 nights a week youth", and he snapped back "yeah looks like it".

For a split second after i'd got my head round it all I wanted to do was launch into a verbal crusade about his roid gut that big daddy would be proud of and his sparrow legs, then I had a massive urge to crack him round the chops with the half plate in my hand. I'm glad I did neither because abuse from me would have made be look a bit of a tit, and I really don't want to face up to the consequences a spot of 10kg discus throwing would present. The more I think about it the more I get wound up, what a bare faced tw@t!

with lifts like that in your sig you must be pretty well built, i would ignore him, or challenge him to a 1rep max bench press

Odd that someone would take the piss out of you and your training when you bench 180kg for reps

Normally people with big lifts are respected in gyms. Your gym must be a bit strange lol

Just what I was thinking.

Do you feel less of a man for not saying anything to him?

im 6"2 at 17 stone, not small by any standards, but then im not cut up by any standards either. He's obvioulsy of the mindset that unless you're of a certain bodyfat level then your not doing enough in the gym. It makes me laugh how he can comment on anything gym-wise to anyone, his flat bench press position consists of his feet on the bench and hips and arse up in the clouds, basically a decline on a flat bench. And with someone assisting on the bar on every rep to boot

Sounds to me like you was involved in a bit of banter and lost. Not worth piss. I do this crap all the time but also remember that what I want from the weights differs from what others want.

BTW: made the 180-kilo bench myself yesterday - big up the 4 plates a side mob!!

Not at all, do you think to "man-up" I should have snarled some abuse at him and possibly landed myself with a ban from the gym?

No, I just fail to see that if it wound you up so much that your still angry enough to bitch and moan about it on the internet hours after the incident why you didn't say something at the time.

Nothing springs to mind.

I have a hard time understanding why people make posts like this, exactly what their motivation is?

Is it just to vent or do they crave the pat on the back for doing the "right thing."

My thinking is if something had wound you up so much as to warrant posting on the internet about it then surely it would have provoked a reaction.

You let the comments slide so obviously they didn't bother you that much.

and his sparrow legs,

Coming from someone who wont admitt what they squat, i think thats a case of the pot and the kettle....

Only messing mate, not worth the agro imo, probably just banter from the other lad who didnt realise how far he went.
We had a similar instance in work a few weeks ago when a joiner was winding a brickie up. All good fun at first until the joiner brought mums into the equation and it went too far. I had to have a bit of a word before it got out of control...

Hows the car btw? Ok still?

Anyone who told me to my face that I only stayed somewhere for 5mins would be crawling out the gym pissing from their ears after I was through with them.

The nerve of the guy.
