Im interested in including this into my daily food, but does anyone know much about it?, eg. where you get it from, how you cook it and any recipies for it? I saw this on the net before about it - Quinoa (KEEN-wah) tastes wonderful and has a nice crunch. It's a good alternative to rice because of its lightness. Make more than enough because the leftovers are so useful. (Try it for breakfast with maple syrup and milk, add it to pancake and muffin batter, or mix it with potatoes for croquettes.) The tiny beige-colored seeds, about the size of pellets of couscous, cook in about 20 minutes. The only special handling required with quinoa is to give it a good rinse before cooking; otherwise, the grains can be bitter. A good source of protein and fiber, 1/2 cup of quinoa has 14 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber. Seems its a complete souce of protein because of the amino acid profile? Is it a real alternative to rice, pasta etc for a complex carb source? Thanks guys, im sure there must be someone who eats it

Quinoa is ace stuff. Really tasty with an interesting texture. Try this. 1/2 red pepper 1 small red onion 1 small courgette Chop all of the above REALLY finely Sweat off in some olive oil Add 1 clove crushed garlic, cumin, ground coriander, paprika - level tspoon of each. 1 tbl spoon tomatoe paste Add cup full of quinoa and stir through Add cup and half of boiling water from the kettle Stir in handful chopped fresh coriander. Put a lid on the pan and turn the heat right down. Done when quinoa has soaked all the liquid. It should still have a bite to it so don't think you have to cook it until it's all mushy. Experiment with different herbs and spices. You could brown some lean mince off with the veggies too before adding the quinoa and make a complete meal.

Been thinking about this too. I believe its the highest protein containing grain. Looks like it could be good with salads, etc. Similar to cous cous.

I don't know why more people don't include quinoa in their diet. It's a complete protein, most excellent stuff. Very versatile too as can be used for savoury or sweet dishes. Use it in place of rice.

I tried it once but hated the texture, actually made me gag. Shame as it would be an excellent addition to my diet. You can by it from most health food stores, Holland and Barrett etc.

I've had this a few times to replace rice when having a curry or something and it's really quite tasty! Very simple to cook and not to expensive, job's a good un.
