With my evenings becoming increasingly busier, I may have to resort to lift early mornings so I can keep my training days and frequency consistant. How hard is in terms of motivation and fuelling?

Fuelling is fine, just get up on time and theres no issue.

You might want to warm up a bit more though as your joints and such forth are not likely to be as mobile as if you'd been up for a few hours beforehand.

I did it for a while. I didn't like it, felt a lot weaker and stiffer.

If you have to though i'd say make sure you eat well the night before, have some easy to digest carbs and protein as soon as you wake and make sure you warm up thoroughly.

I sometimes do it.

To be honest, I feel a bit weaker in the morning, can't talk about fueling since I often take advantage of being unfueled.

In terms of motivation...that's the biggie for me. If you're a morning person, it's great, if not...and you like a slow start to the morning....you're just irritable and don't tend to want to be there that much.

Try it and see what you think, only way to tell if you'll like it :)

Morning workouts is what its all about for the following reasons:

- Its dead in there so you have no problem waiting for a bench/ machine
- Refreshes you for work
- Come home from work and you can chill
- Funnily enough I feel stronger in the morning

I wake up 5.30 smash in 3bananas or some porridge then 6.10 go for a 10 minute mild jog then im picked up by 20past and by half past 6 im pumping iron and I f**kin lovez it. This way always makes me feel strong in work and when I come home I havent got to drag myself to the gym because I feel tired. Also getting asleep is lovely because of the long day I find.

You won't be able to lift as heavy, but will probably make strength gains in the long run.

Great for fat loss.

Its a real bitch to get up though.

Am currently waking up at 4am - 45 mins of cardio, then commute and usually in the gym before 7 and out by 9. Was hard at first but now I'm used to it.

I always train first thing and always have done cos I can't be bothered with packed out gyms.

It is a bit hard at first but you will get used to it. You need to start going to bed earlier. Thats the key

I usually get up about 5.30, have some oats and a couple of spoonfuls of glucose. Does the trick.

I train in the am. I've just had 2 months off so cannot comment on the drop in strength, though I'm quite far off where I was in terms of lifts. My weights are starting to creep up now, after the 3rd week of training.

I get up at 6, have about 460g (cooked weight) or porridge, made with half a pint of semi skilled milk and a liberal dose of Gales Clear Honey I also have a very strong coffee. Feeling awake enough to lift was my biggest issue, but now I'm used to it. Drinking enough water is also something to be mindful of.

In some respects, it saves you chasing the calories to train, planning meals for optimum training, as you've trained before you've burned your natural amount of calories.

My only regret is the lack of someone to spot me on bench, my gains are painfully slow there.

Once I'm finished and off to work, I'm bouncing off the walls, get to work, really cheerful, annoy the miserable koonts off in the office, drink my shake and grab some fruit. It's allowed me to reduce bodyfat, which I have been very pleased with. I'm also more in control of my eating, while being more flexible.

I love am training, switching was the best thing I've done. It's also helped me to get up and run on non gym days, as I'm used to the routine.

I started on this last week and have decided this will be my new protocol now. The main reason for this, is the Uni gym where I train (I train at FF also, but eves) is absolutely dead in the mornings in the weights area - so there's no hanging about waiting for equipment and even better, the Bicep Brigade appear to be still in bed LOL

I really like training first thing in the morning. It's good to get it out of the way and usually feel quite good for the rest of the day

I feel like I'm at my strongest at that time too, but I've been doing it so long I must be used to it

I credit training early am before work as the single most important factor in me turning my training round for the better over the last year.

So many benefits, and also optimal in my view for gaining muscle whilst stayin lean due to the fact that you can eat a good amount of targeted carbs early am that will no way be stored as fat, and then ride lowish carbs for the rest of the day....

I have been traing in the morning for a couple of years now. i work a long day and a m too tired to push my self hard in the evenings. i used to set my alarm for 4am for food but now i have set my body clock up and wake every morn at 4 (even on off days!). the night before i blend 60-100 grams of oats with water - thats dry weight and 40 grams of whey protein, i guzzle that down at 4am then the alarm goes off at 630 for a very strong double espresso then hit the gym for 7am. works really weel for me although am in bed most nighta by 9 or 930pm.

Going back a few years I trained at 06:30 before going to work. It was without a doubt the most consistent period I trained for, I absolutely love training in the morning.
