I just call A wide grip chins and B close grip chins. A will target you lats more than B, B will target your biceps more than A. So when training back do A.
Age - 18 Bench - 95kg (at 62kg) Deadlift - 120kg (at 62kg) Squat - 100kgx5 (at 62kg) Front Squat - 92.5kg (at 62kg)

I call the overhand version (A) pull ups and the underhand version (B) chin ups. I would then say wide grip pull ups or narrow grip depending on hand spacing. Incidentally, I do them both as part of my back and bicep day.

Do type A. Type B could be used as a barbell curl replacement though. I prefer barbell curls personally but you may fancy a change every now and then.

A is a "pull up" B is a "chin up" chin ups are where the palms are facing you. pull ups are when palms are facing the other way like in A Also to help you clear this up... think of a "lat pull down" machine. then look at A. you will see that A is a "pull-up" rather then a pull down that you normally do on pull down machines ;D Pull ups are more natural (you cant rock climb doing chinups). chinups work biceps well, as do pull ups, and bother give a good back work out.

no 'both' option? id class them both as chin ups, one is under hand, one is over hand, one is wide grip the other is narrow grip but all are differing versions of chin ups imo
play the hand you are dealt!!! Its not impossible....it just takes longer than you think! - paul george. PB's @ 210lb dead - 190kg x 1 bench - 130kg x 1 squat - 180kg x 3

I've always understood it to be A, hence why wide grip chins are the same as chins but with a wider grip.

ORIGINAL: Furious D I call the overhand version (A) pull ups and the underhand version (B) chin ups. Exactamundo. Close grip pulls work the lats best i find, if you arch your back andpull to your chest.
Nothing contributes so much to tranquilizing the mind as a steady purpose - a point on which the soul may fix its intellectual eye.

I refer to A as Pull-Ups and B as Chin-Ups. Where do you stand on a semi-supinated grip then (hands facing each other)?
