Something i surely wouldn't do...

Reduce calories from same meals slightly and/or increase cardio

Ive wondered this many times, i dont actually see what metabolic problems would arise from suddenly dropping them.

Mental/hunger problems perhaps as the volume of food would be reduces dramatically, be interesting to see if anyone has any valid metabolic/hormone reasons.

Well i dont think your bodys is going to say "OMG WERE GETTING LESS FOOD, EVERY HEAD TO THE BUNKER!".

You may feel like your now on a pigeons diet, but your metabolism would slow if you went from 4000 to 2000 anyway, i think by dropping so suddenly your body will take a while to adapt still and you'll see the same weight loss. I dont think it will have any impact of muscle loss or anything else either.

So i really dont see a problem, lets see what the others think though.

Mate i lost muscle when i reduced calories and carbs too low. It is not needed at the initial stages of a cut!!

I'd aim for a 500 cal reduction taken evenly from meals during the day.

That with some cardio added would = 1-2lb weight loss per week.

Trust me on this mate, go careful as muscle loss is frustrating

Not sure but I definately think you should taper rather than drop hugely. Reduce carb portion sizes slightly in most meals away from training, and simply monitor and adjust accordingly!

My take on it is slightly drop cals say 500 and add lots of cardio. Say u burn 200 cals each time on cardio x 5 1000 + 3500 less cal from diet= 4000 calories a week. I think using cardio to create a defecit is the best way. I think u will hold on to more muscle.

Saying all that im getting james to do mine no point messing about

ok well i didnt train yesterday and today im not either and th diet is that same, i have uped the carbs on a few meals but tapering would be a waste of time coz of the high level of carbs before i would still be putting fat on ie 600, 550, 500 its still alot of carbs
