The protein requirements of the massively muscular are far higher than your average Joe or Puzzle. 2g per pound is not necessary.

I was thinking that 1g per 1lb lean mass should be enough as muscle needs the nutrients as fat doesnt, i dont know know the science behind this or poeple view on this but i tend to go for 1g per 1lb of bodyweight.

I reckon between 1-1.5g of total body weight is a good place to start. It seems to have worked well for me so far. But to be honest, its so dependent on other factors. It would depend on your stats, requirements and how your body responds. Even then, the amount could vary between induviduals.

I normally have aroung 40g each meal so end up getting in atleast 300g protein per day @ 215lbs bw.

Has anyone ever gone from 1g to 2g's, or 2g's to 1g? Stark changes, and seen a difference in their results (i.e. recovery time, feeling of well-being, DOMS, stuff that could be classified as a possibly direct change resultant from the protein % change)?

2g per kg. If I wanted to increase my weight I'd go close to 3kg per kg simply by way of increased kcals.

Does anyone have any studies relating to protein amounts needed by training individuals compared to sedentry. I study dietetics and seem to be facing a lot of resistance when talking about protein requirements in body building, people insistant on the low reccomended guidelines. I'd appriciate any help.

I hover around 155-160, i roughly taking in something similar to my bodyweight somedays and when i can i throw in an extra 60g from shakes if i have time. So usually 1g-1.5g of protein per lb

I simply look at appropriate sources for each macro and advise on portions sizes. I am yet to be convinced that we need to count. Especially as food tables are way off anyway and are only estimates. I do not count, I just try to get a protein in as part of my meals. A rough estimate off the top of my head would be 100 - 120g per day
