| Mad Manic -> RE: Decline Bench query (May 9 2008 0:48:22) | I thought it was accepted that the angle shifts the emphasis on whether its clavicular ('upper pec') or sternal (middle and lower pec) that are dominant in the movement, but the entire pec does work as a whole. So why is it that some people say things like 'but you can't isolate one area the pec works as a whole', it has nothing to do with isolation lol. And yes there have been studies done on this, there's one where some machine detected electrical impulses and found out which exercises recruit the pecs most (I think decline and dumbells won?) and also that shifting the angle does shift the emphasis onto upper or lower region a bit. Although agreed it wasn't a big deal breaker, but important nevertheless. MM |
