Hi i was tlakin to a friend about the bleep test and he said he was told in colage that it dose not hellp with fitnes, i dont think it is myself but wud like other peoples say,
is it better to do it say once a month an see how you progress through other fitnes, or can it be used once a week as part of your fitnes.

Thanks [:)]

there are better things to do to improve fitness - i wouldnt do it every week , ive done it 3 times this year - i would do some simple hill sprints instead

must have another crack soon !!

What is it?[&:]

Running a set distance backwards and forwards, but the time you are allowed to go between the cones gets less (i.e you have to run quicker)

(start of walking, end up sprinting) and you get assigned a level based on that.

Right thanks.

It's not for me though, I can barely run forwards, let alone backwards.[&:]

I do enjoy the bleep test as i can measure my fitness level. It does help but as said before its better to do other exercises. Suicides are always fun :p

I like the sound of suicides !! (what are they ??)

see the 'test your metal' thread for links to various bleep test stuff

Yeah as said above there better things you can do, the bleep test is a good way to test your fitness though, to see what level your at imo.

laycan -> RE: bleep test good for fitness? (May 5 2008 0:21:54)

It can depend because i was very and ifit, i swam 65km a week and i would be really bad at the bleep test (Level 11) its because i was no good at running.

I done swimming style test and got to level 18 when i was 80% at my best

Suicides(If you have access to a sport hall) - Start at a wall and either choose to run back and forth between all lines off the a particular sport(badminton tennis or whatever) Start with the closest line and then run back to the wall and do the next one to increase the distance every time, after hitting the far wall and sprinting back to your original starting point you deserve a rest!
For a real killer - do every painted line on the floor!!![&:]

Fintan -> RE: bleep test good for fitness? (May 8 2008 18:10:28)

To add on that, when were doing fitness training for rugby we used to do something called the "3 minute run".

Actually pretty much the same concept as Suicides, you start from one try line, run to the 22 metre line then return, and repeat for every line after that finishing with a run from one try line to the other, then back again. If you can do that in 3 minutes or less, you're fit enough to play rugby at an U16 level. [;)]
