yes there are also many injuries through bench pressing i agree. however there are many more muscles used in the squating process ie back, legs, abdomen etc etc etc which is the reason why people say they are a good exercise.imo the more muscles used the more risk of injury.

Do I squat ? Yes Should I squat ? Nah not really, following my OP a few years ago my left knee swells up like a Melon and I struggle to walk properly for a couple of days. Why do I still do it ? Dunno, gimp I suppose.

Does anyone know if any of the pro BB don't squat? I do have lots of knee pain after squatting to be honest...it can't be good for the knee's long term surely!?

I bet there is a few! When i read James llwelyn's journal i remember he did not always have squats in there (im not saying he never squats but i didnt see them in his training for a while). He tended to do a lot of staggered leg pressing and lunges.

there is no need to squat if you are a bodybuilder IMO why are big core stabiliser muscles required in the game of aesthetic training? IMO theyre not. Leg pressing is a more than adequate alternative if you cannot or will not squat

What about the benefits for deep core muscles though? Squats are great in improving core strength, as are deadlifts, standing OHPs, and so forth.

what does core strength have anything to do in relation to bodybuilding where you are training for a look firstly and strength secondly?

Do you think you'd be able to do the exercises i listed above if you had a piss weak core? yeah i would be able to do them with ease i might add too, if were talking heavy where the stabilisers muscles arent strong enough to support the load in addition to the primary muscle group being worked then weight would drop and stimulation would drop in order to accommodate the load Still i dont see a problem with seated pressing, hypers, lunges, ham curls, leg pressing etc etc again i ask what does core strength have to do in relation with achieving a physique that is built on aesthetics, why is it necessary to have a massive core unless you are either an olympic or powerlifter and it is required to have masses of core strength

I don't squat as I sometimes have to carry bits of paper to the office upstairs to mine, and I'd be worried about it affecting my bicep curls to be honest.

If you have a strong core, you are able to perform heavier movements that involve the core but target other muscles. A 'massive' core is not built through secondary stimulation (i.e deads squats etc). Your deep muscles are never really going to effect superficial hypertrophy (you will never see your Transverse abdominus muscles, however hard you cut). If you have a strong core, then you will be able to perform standing lifts to a greater quality, increasing stimulation to the relevant musculature and thus your overall physique will improve. Why? Because you have a strong core.
