Whoever said doing squats takes off muscle from the upper body needs shooting.

Before I started doing squats I didnt put muscle on my top half as fast I have been now im doing squats.

My ass is absoloutely huge beyond belief but the fact I can squat so much compared to any other compound movement is an awesome feeling I LOVE IT!

do you squat more than you deadlift?

No, do it all the same just my bottom has grew so much its down to genes though because my brothers bum is huge aswell.
Why did you ask?

Also I think half squats are extremely effective aswell almost as good as normal squats imo, reason being I do better than half squats but still dont go right the way down but I find this way you can lift an insane amount of weight which guarantees you get muscle growth.

So infact what you're doing is not a partial nor a parallel squat.

Great

otherwise known in weight lifting circles from bodybuilders to powerlifters as "unracking the bar" or "walkout"

he's trolling....

he's hoping people will bite with the fact that kids are seen doing this in squat racks, loading up the bar with numerous plates and doing 'curtsy squats'

Basically its a half squat, I go right down so my arse comes down horizontally just slightly above the knees. I feel that if I went down any lower i'd just collapse (because of the insane weight)

Also my deadlift strength hasnt increased no way near as my squat strength.

However considering deadlifts do your whole back and even traps its obviously more important in my books than squats which is why if I do miss a session it will be legs day instead of pull day.

why, i bring more to the table than you?
every other post with you is a way to wind up members or provoke reactions.

nobody can be that dumb, i am puzzled as to how you have survived this long and to the point or making a mockery of evolution.

I sure I remember a tale of someone who used to squat in a hole in his garden.
It started off as quite a deep hole so the ROM was quite small.
Over time the hole was filled in and the ROM gradually increased until he was squatting to parallel what he could only unrack at the beginning.

I'm not sure who the person was or whether it's a true tale or just another training fable. I'm not too sure what the point of this post is either, but I'm desperately trying to link it somehow to PW's partial squats.

Ye fairplay Lordmonkhouse, I know real squats are going to be more beneficial for strength/growth but imo I find that more stress is put on the knees the lower you go down.

For the sake of doing half squats (and getting results as it shows with my ass) and not messing my knees up its worth it.

At MMA guy I honestly cant be bothered to argue with you, obviously you contribute more to the forum I mean I only make a few posts a day if that somedays.
I dont come on the forum to troll.
I also dont come on here to act like a kid and argue.

If you're not squatting deep then your arse is more likely to be fat than glute development.

PW - contributing to MT doesn't necessarliy mean posting numerous posts. I'm sure you'll agree the forum would benefit from people who make quality posts rather than a large quantity of nonsense posts.

As long as you aren't offensive then please continue posting. Just occasionally re-read what you've typed before hitting the OK button

This does not imply that MMA Guy posts nonsense [/disclaimer]

I think AK is suggesting unless you're going deep enough, there will be minimal Glute recruitment in the Squat so any increase in size of the glutes will be due to increased fatty tissue rather than increased muscle.

Oh right, because thats the thing my gluteus maximus is pert but certainly not solid muscle its very fat.

So this could be due to the way I squat?

Very interesting that just by doing a squat differently you will actually get more fat than muscle. I would of thought you just wouldnt gain as much muscle as you would if you squatted normally, without any gain in fat.

Also I dont see why that thread 'dogging up' was banned, I honeslty think it was a good subject to talk about.

I think tha was Paul Anderson.

The above table means nothing unless the term parallel is defined.

Would love to squat but after 4 knee ops and ££££s worth of surgery, it's not the best idea.

Can I ask where you got those stats from Tom?

Assuming they're correct, there's a case there for doing partials to develop the quads over hams/glutes.
And other than more glute activation, I can't see any real benefit for going A-T-G.

Although saying that, I can't actually think of anyone I've seen training partials with particularly developed legs at all - quads or hams.
