Excellent product but expensive. It's only a protein powder at the end of the day so it wont do anything that a lot of other protein sorces wont

Thanks for the fast reply i do agree with the cost issue, was just looking to use it as a pre bed shake. If it is a quality product i dont mind paying a fair price.

I use MP's micellar casein as a cheaper alternative. It doesn't taste as nice but it's less than half the price. They have also now released an instantised verison that apparently tastes better.

Yeah because the texture and taste is nice not because of the nice packaging and marketing

The days of falling for marketing hype and nice packaging are long gone thankfully.

All the CNP stuff is good. Pro-Pep is more than just casein, it's a protein blend, and includes several proteins that are just more expensive to source than whey in there. It also mixes very well, and is tasty. In terms of prices, it's always going to be more expensive than standard unflavoured stuff from a bulk supplier, but that's because unflavoured casein is a different product. Pro-Pep is flavoured well (flavouring costs money after all), has a nice texture, and includes several things over and above casein...for example:

*Bifidus, acidophilus, yoghurt organisms, which is the healthy bacteria needed to promote an efficient digestive system, which will enable you to metabolise more nutrients.

Micellar casein (milk protein) is an undenatured slow released protein, medically proven to be anti-catabolic (stopping muscle breakdown).

Whey protein high fraction concentrate is an undenatured fast released protein containing higher levels of growth factors than normal whey protein concentrates.

Hydrolysed Whey is the most digestible whey protein, which is partially pre-digested for better absorption allowing the body to use it's complete range of amino acids for faster absorption and recovery. This is the first of the fast and slow proteins.

Whey protein is a by-product from the manufacture of cheese due to the heat-treating of milk (curds and whey). A lot of the growth factors and the amino acid cysteine become deficient because of this process. CNP's proteins are cold processed

Peptide Bonded Glutamine is an amino acid that promotes a healthy gut, increases growth hormone and is the highest amino acid found in human muscle (It would be very hard to get enough glutamine in the system from food alone).

Amino acids are absorbed by molecular weight and peptide bonded amino acids are heavier than free form.

Egg White has a high level of the amino acid cysteine, which is a key amino acid in maintaining muscle mass and helps protect the liver. Cysteine (Non Essential Amino Acid) plays an important role in the production of Glutathione ("Glue-toe-thigh-own") (a small protein), which is the bodies primary anti-oxidant, which neutralises free radicals and enhances the immune system which is important in the manufacture of muscle growth."

If you're on a budget, you'll have to go for the unflavoured bulk stuff...but if you can afford it, I'd go for the Pro-Pep. It's just a very good product.

It's not mate, honestly.

MP Micellar Casein might be advertised as only 11.90 per kilo, but that doesn't represent a realistic total cost.

When you add in the other stuff that makes it more comparable to the user-friendliness and taste of Pro-Pep, there really isnt that much difference. Here's an example. Say you wanted to buy 3 bags of Pro-Pep (about 7kg), and get it shipped to your house within the UK. That would cost you around 118.99 pounds total.

Now, I've just gone on the MP site and put together an order for 7kg of their Micellar Casein - plus flavouring, and in tubs, because their bags are not designed to be re-used, unlike the CNP bag which is designed to be opened and closed repeatedly - then I've added standard delivery. The total comes to 90.89 pounds. So you're actually saving just 28.10....and that's buying a product that only has Micellar Casein and a bit of flavouring, not X number of other ingredients that have benefits too (like the egg, probiotics etc.).

I've made this same argument on pulse vs. no-xplode. there really isn't that much of a saving (if any sometimes) buying equivalent products from a "bulk" brand, vs an established brand.

Pro-Peptide is up there as one of the best protein blends. Yes it's expensive but it's worth it IMO.

Good points made by Thaifighter too

yeah its an expensive product, but you pay for what you get, which is probably the best protein blend on the market.

that's not what you have to pay mate.

without posting links, it's available for much less.

nah, but most bodybuilding gyms stock it and tend to do shakes. it's nice tasting, if you're not sure just poip down to the gym as grab a shake. think they normally (well my old one) sell it for 1.50 a shake.

no they dont do any samples in ProPeptide.

its probably worth consider just buying the 908g tub to try, can still pick it up for £23 on some sites. The malt chocolate mix in ice cold water with 10grams of peanut butter blended in is the dogs nuts. Ideal for a prebed shake.

Well I just get 10kg of unflavoured Micellar Casein tubbed for about £93 delivered. So can't justify the expense of buying a branded protein like pro-peptide. After all, I can just mix my whey with the casein to get the best of both worlds.

In what way? I agree the taste is obviously gonna be better in the pp, but the overall amino acid profiles I would imagine aren't too far apart. I can't see what extra benefit some hydrolyed whey and some egg white are gonna give in the grand scheme of things.
