Why wouldn't you do Isolation exercises?-If you simply want to be the best you can then you should simply use every available source-done them for 16yrs-why limit yourself

I do a couple myself (pushdowns, decline crunches if they count, shrugs). However, I find I can get all the work I need by alternating different compounds around. For example, instead of doing quad ext and ham curls, which I find a complete waste of time, I'd rather split my time between wide stance squats, narrow deep squats, box squats, sldl, rack pulls, sumo deadlifts, and alike. I've found adding too much else will only detract from the work I can put in the bigger movements.

I really can't see the point of kickbacks when there's so many other decent tricep exercises available.

haha I'm with you there. I'd rather have the triceps of someone who does board presses and rack lockouts with rediculous amounts of weight, then someone who gets "peak contraction" from kickbacks

I agree with a lot of what Raj and Tony have said. I've got nothing against doing isolation lifts, and do 1 or 2 myself, but I think they're so over-relied upon (atleast from your average gym goer). I see so many people going into the gym with a routine of barbell curl, preacher curl, bench, pushdown, pec dec, leg ext, and calf raise.

Am I the only on who could live without curls, kickbacks, and leg extensions?

Of course not. I am your future

I'm not sure whether I should be happy or terrified?

As we now BB is about what works for the Individual-If you can succesfully train every Bodypart with compounds then cool-I know when ever I have used whole bodyworkouts my smaller muscle groups suffer-It depends if your goal is to look like you can lift 1000lbs or you want to be able to lift 1000lbs

Personally I think this testicle tenderness is due to my recent return to AM cardio. I do it naked on a recumbent bike and my gonads tend to flop about.
