I remember reading a post here about a year or so ago (Think it was Sub Zero who mentioned it - but cant find it in search)

Anyway it basically said that a lot of medical students where using a particular prescription drug when studying for exams that helps them with their revision and remembering things (I think)

Anyone know anything of these?

I know a few but I doubt you'd be thinking much about studying

You're gonna laugh your tits off at me later anyway when I tell you about my failure last night

i'm using them as i type now mate, modafinil is what i use.

its really helping with focus (even though i'm on MT!)

sub_zero was the one i asked a few q's too about it.

this is the only article i've got on this laptop about it

http://www.newscientist.com/channel/health/mg18925391.300-get-ready-for-24hour-living.html

i get tired, but can sleep on it if i want, i usually have some just before bed then get and feel fresh and can get straight into my work. i had 5 hours sleep last night, got up and have pretty much revised/worked all day, not feeling tired mentally or physically and have had a productive day.

dont get a wired feeling, more of an alert and focussed feeling. it has a long half life (about 14 hours iirc) and i take 200mg at a time, not needed more than that.

no come down effects.

physically i felt tired the last time i used it eyes got a bit sore too but that could be down to reading/sat at laptop for hours on end, used for about 8 days straight sleeping about 4-7 hours a night, i then had 4 days off before an exam and had a kind of catch up sleep. about 16 hours.

then had 400mg the night before my exam, result speaks for itself, highest mark for the module by nearly 20%, i put that down to the focus i had through revision, was even questioned by course leader as i was suspected of cheating, not that they ever said that.

i've used coke and pills in the past (not for studying) so know what a proper come down is like, there didnt seem to be any catch up with this apart from the sleep.k

if you have trouble getting to sleep i would advocate it, but i know people that when its exam time are on things like nytol to sleep and modafinil to concentrate/stay awake.

it can be used to just stay awake, but i found it better to just have a few hours on it.

I dislike Modafinil personally, it's just like weak speed to me, and there is a comedown

People seem very split on how they experience this drug. It is worth a try but be prepared for disappointment

Modafinil sounds pretty interesting. Am I right in thinking shipping it to the UK from abroad is legal?

i'd agree with that, i find it a very useful drug, dont have a come down effect from it apart from the catch up sleep i had/needed.

whereas other people i know that have used it/use it get bad headaches and lethargy after using it.

one friend described it more like sh1t coke, doesnt get you wired but puts you in a kind of zoned out feeling, followed by feeling a bit sick.

i've never felt like that from it though, even when i used 400mg in one go.
