18 is the wrong age for the age of consent, but given that it is, the disapproval of the photograph is understandable. Besides, she's a 15 year old Disney actress, so she shouldn't be trying to look like she's ovulating. I don't think it's puritanical in the least.

You only need to be understand the intention of the picture to then be able to make a moral judgement, whether that be negative, positive or ambivalent. There will be many mothers and atheists who aren't fans of the picture.

I think the intention is to mark a girl becoming a woman - even the cover is a bit euphemistic (the "cover coming off" so to speak) - which was probably the photographers, and actresses intention all along. After all, a lot of these child actors find it hard to be seen as adult actors once they hit late teen (e.g. McCauley Culkin).
I can see you're point in terms of it being sexual, I guess I just viewed it more as an artistic expression of a girl hitting womanhood.
[Note: Just realised that's the gayest way anyone has ever described a naked woman]

LMAO. I love the way this thread managed to skid from "how immoral is this picture" to "how hot is this chick?". Kinda like the mental processes of the typical bloke as the beers roll by.
On the first question. It's clearly intended as a prevocative picture, and she's clearly very young. I can understand the fuss, and if she was my daughter I wouldn't be too amused and the photographer would need vasaline and forceps to get his camera back - and even then wouldn't want to hold it up to his face ever again.
On the second question. Yes, she's plainly a pretty little girl, and gonna be a real heartbreaker.
I'll say this. When I was 15 i'd have found this girl in the photo irresistable - to my 34 year old eyes she looks like a kid. When I was 15 i'd have found Sigourney Weaver, Andie McDowall or Michelle PfeiffHowTheHellDoYouSpellIt? far too old - now I think they're hot in an "experienced, elegant woman of the world" kinda way. Age is clearly relative, and 15 is too young for that kind of shot. It's NOT porn, but it clearly sexualises a very young girl who is very significantly below the age of concent in the country the photo was taken. Gotta draw the line somewhere, and that shot is mighty close to it.

Is that not a generalisation a bit too far?
You could argue that both are morally wrong (the naked back picture and the beauty pagents). I think people should argue it, cos if no one ever says anything, people will just keep crossing the line even more. If no one complains about her naked back, what next?
