You should try and progress every workout mate. I used to alternate reps and weight.

Say if you were doing bench;
Week 1, 40kgx10
week 2, 40kgx12
week 3, 42.5kgx10
week 4, 42.5kgx12

Yeah im aware of that and do progress every workout, i usually up the weight once i get around 8 reps on it sometimes even 6 or 7 reps, strength and mass is my aim, so i tend to use a rep range from 3-12 for all exercises i do

Heres my weightlifting timeline which was on page 2 of this journal:

Made a mistake with that ive been training for just over 3 years, yes im fully aware my body for 3 years work is awful, first 2 years i didnt really know what i was doing i was just do random, exercises, random sets, cardio here and there, i didnt know any better, i regret it now, i bought protein with no notion that i should be getting 1lb per bodyweight i just took the protein once a day and that was it, not enough protein in my iet like there should of been, instead of like i do now i used to just walk into the gym and do whatever and not record or remember how many reps/sets i done, since dec 2007 i have been recording things i wont be able to remember, ive joined myprotein forum and really started learning stuff first of all, now i found MT and its the bomb, the forums have really helped me as i have asked questions at will without hesitation and have got the answers i needed.

Yeah practise what i preach........your right, my diet is fcuked up but i feel i can lose weight on it, i will see in the first week how it goes if it doesnt work ill mak my diet better and more strict.

I regret wasting all of them years really badly but i had no real guidedense (i know its not really an excuse), so i wasnt walking into the gym saying i want to curl that 25kg d'bell etc i hope you get my drift, if not feel free to ask questions.

How i got into BB....bro used to work in a gym near my house, he went to uni, i got the job, and started using the gym a few months after getting the job.

A good reason that it doesnt look like ive weight trained much is quite alot du to my high bf% as well

id say at the moment sort a basic diet (that you dont fret over everyday recording it by the gram in your journal) and focus on lifting propley.

no offence but for 3 years training it is not good weight to shift, which is telling me youve done something wrong in the way you train. but there is no way to say for sure untill you show weights and reps per session.

You mean im not lifting much? im fully aware of that ive done really shi* and it pisses me off to an extent you cant imagine.

Do you no what your bf % is ? you say you dont look like youve trained much coz its so high. i bet its not as high as you think.
Id say you havnyt put on much muscle since youve been training probally down to diet and poor training.
Should have never cut mate. get a good buliking diet and good traing routine and your see good results if you get it right.

I wouldnt worry about how much weight you can lift just do the exercises/lifts probally only worry about weight when strength training.

I got 20% on calipres but i say im around 18% as i cant see my self being 20% tbh.

I only cut for a week so no biggie

I do strength training as well as train for muscle mass my reps range would be 3-12reps

You're worrying too much mate. Just try and relax about training, eat 6 clean meals with something like 40g pro/carbs each and you'll be ok.

have you ordered some of those egg whites? such a easy way of getting protein, since eating more eggs i got leaner

Tip: Buy oatcakes from Tesco. The big pancake type ones not the biscuits. 5 for 42p, and very nutritious and easy to eat. I've just had them today for the first time and they're yummy. I had 1 smothered with quark, one with just butter, and one with quark and half a tin of tuna. Very easy to eat and loads of complex carbs.
