savageJ -> best tricep exercises (May 5 2008 20:00:58)

currently do tricep push downs at gym,

tricep extensions

over head extensions with dumb bell

and lay on bench holding bar with arms straight above head and lower hands to head by bending elbow but keep upper arms straight-the name exscapes me

what good exercises are there to do at home other then those with dumb bells for triceps?

Thats a lying tricep extension or skull crusher or if lowering behind the head a french press.

What does your whole routine look like thats a lot of movements for the tris and not the best choice either for a beginner

Dips are a must have if not close grip bench press

Grum -> RE: best tricep exercises (May 5 2008 20:49:45)

dips for me 2, a really good size builder

waylander -> RE: best tricep exercises (May 5 2008 20:59:05)

close grip bench, dips, skull crushers, I like fixed bar tricep extensions to finish also works abbs!

Although you'll look like a wierdo doing these in a commercial gym, board presses and rack lockouts are excellent.

been training for over a year now just wanting some sound advice on triceps as having difficulty building them.

whats a good routine to build size mate?

currently arms are at 14 1/2 inches but most is bicep

savageJ -> RE: best tricep exercises (May 5 2008 21:14:51)

p.s tricep push downs at gym= dips on a machine

waylander -> RE: best tricep exercises (May 5 2008 21:29:37)

dips 3x8
close grip 5x5
and if you want a comp fixed bar tricep extensions esp with narrow grip I do it on the smith machine dropping the hight with each set untill you can do no more

fun meter -> RE: best tricep exercises (May 5 2008 21:32:11)

Bench and Overhead Presses will build your triceps. But for direct work, Tricep Dips, CGBP or Skull crushers work nicely. Just stick with doing one of them and focus on building up the weight.

savageJ -> RE: best tricep exercises (May 5 2008 21:32:26)

cheers guys

waylander -> RE: best tricep exercises (May 5 2008 21:43:06)

I do chest triceps together
Bench 5x5
flys 3x8
dips 3x8
close grip BP 5x5
fixed bar triceps or scull crushers
I feel dips as a good cross over between chest and tris

savageJ -> RE: best tricep exercises (May 5 2008 21:49:18)

do you not do alt bench press for chest?

waylander -> RE: best tricep exercises (May 5 2008 21:59:43)
