I have just got my new bottle of flax oil. (cheers Nigepoo for the guidance).

It tastes so vile is there any good way of taking it and covering up the taste? I just took it in my whey shake.

My mouth and tastebuds HATE me right now, the rest of my body is thankful for the consideration.

If you were my child I would disown you

On a more serious note, I have bought flax from their before and it was off. I took it back and got another which was fine. It might be off if it tastes that bad.

It tastes like, (if you split a tea bag and eat whats inside) but stronger

Could still be off though, had similar with a bottle of LEW a few weeks back, still had 2months left on the date.

If it tastes like tea, it's O.K. If it tastes bitter, it's rancid and you should take it back and ask for a refund. Buying flaxseed oil from H & B is a lottery. What brand was it?

Granovita organic cold-pressed flaxseed oil was always good when I bought it from Sainsbury's.

I am taking it back tonight!

Rancid isnt the word! Putrid is more like it. I necked a spoon of it this morning and had to endure a 20mins drive to work before I could get a drink.

I've not had a problem with the H&B stuff myself, but refrigeration is key.
Put it in the fridge the moment you get back from the shop, and only take it out for the few seconds you need to use it.

Wouldn't touch H&B stuff even if my life depended on it. Go for the FMD brand, if you're lucky enough to catch them BOGOF from Savant, stack up like 20-50 bottles. I've never worried about flax since. Alternatively theres a producer of flax oil in the UK which I met last weekend at the Real Food Festival, but gotta dig out the details when I get home.

Always used to get mine from H&B and always used to taste like ****e. Got it from Sainsburys the last two times and its quality and it actually tastes kinda nice.

Flax oil... expiring 2010.... H&B's commitment to quality astounds me all the time...!

Our flax has a 7 month shelf life from pressing. It takes roughly a month to get to us during which time it is constantly refrigerated to 4 C - so effectively at best ours has 6 months on it.

It is in the fridge and yes I do only take it out for a min or so.

I will get another bottle at the weekend I think. I have found if you put it in a glass of milk and down it, it doesnt taste that bad. For some reason when mixed with ON + milk its vile
