I didnt think ibuprofen would help at all really!?, much better taking some strong pain killers to ease it.
The biggest danger with it is it can be very hard on the stomache lining, IE must ALWAYS be taken with food
what mg dosages are each tab!?

seems to be helping a bit from what I can see, the tablets are 200mg (nurofen tablets if that makes any difference) and it doesn't say anything on the pack or on the piece of paper inside about taking it with food

you really REALLY have to take them with food for the whole process, ibuprofen is not a painkiller, tho it has some properties that will help with pain, its not what its intended for.
When I have a bad tooth infection the best thing I did was take a strong pain killer (Anadin extra etc) 2 tabs every 4 hours, tho you should only really do that for about 36 hrs total.

from what I can gather from my googling it's an abcess, nothing visual on the surface, but the tooth is very, very sensitive to tocuh and pressure and generally throbbing, but not in an exposed nerves, toothache way.......also the tooth isn't sensitive to hot or cold liquid being swilled over it
just trying to find some emergency treatment now, pain's getting pretty unbearable

Take paracetamol with ibuprofen, i dunno why, but its a VERY effective painkilling combo.
Clove oil will numb it, but sounds like you need some dental treatment

Did you try your GP?....you may be put on a course of Amoxycillans for about 1 week before they consider anything  , might be worth exguasting this before you bugger about
..
I just picture a
"well we really should try this before we do anything"...speech being harped at you.

Given the size of you, three times the 'normal' dose would probably count as about normal anyway.

No, its best to go, get it done with, there is a good chance the Anit-B's will clear it up, tho he may also prescibe you another more powerful painkiller.
What I suspect will happin is if you DO NOT do this first, your dentist will do nothing directly until you have tried this.
The rule dentists take (as I was told) was the first time if it clears up they leave it, a second time hwoever and they go in directly.

well i take a gram at a time with a headache and it doesnt get rid of it you would have to take alot to have any problems

got an appointment today at 16:30, thank god for that as I would have struggled to make tommorow, the pain seems to be getting worse which is nice

Abdo bleeding and stomach pains,Always take some food with Ibuprofens.
Take Ibuprofens 2 every 4hours,but between that take Paracetamols to tide you over and rinse your mouth with warm water and a little salt
