I'd stick with 20 mins SSCV after weights if I were u.

How many times do u train a week?

4 or 5 days a week. I much prefer training one body part at a time and keeping the sessions short. I've always liked training this way, plus it fits in even better with morning training as a long session at 7am would be a killer.

Will 20 mins SSCV do me any good?

if your doing it 5 x week I reckon it should be fine, depends on your diet though obviously.

Well I'm hoping my diet promotes quite a bit of fat loss, as it was pretty messy when I was bulking and I'm going quite low on carbs

In that case I would stick to the SSCV after weights and monitoe your progress from there.

Thanks for the help mate.

Can I just ask, whats wrong with HIIT after weights? Is it too much and I'll burn muscle?

Your glycogen levels would be quite low if u train weights with intensity resulting in u not being adequately fueled for HIIT cardio IMO.

Basically when your doing HIIT your burning almost all carbs and when your doing SSCV u are mostly burning fat so consider the state your body is in after weights.

IMO SSCV would be the best choice especially as your already taking a low carb approach to your diet and u don't wanna burn off your hard earned muscle do u?!?

brittas -> RE: Carb timing question (May 7 2008 13:01:18)

Makes sense.

I just worried that 20 mins SSCV wouldn't be that effective. And liked the idea of the EPOC (or whatever it's called) affect HIIT has, burning fat all day after my session.

U don't burn fat all day after HIIT....Unfortunately.

U will get EPOC from weight training I believe, maybe someone who is more clued up on it can acccurately answer that though!

See http://www.muscletalk.co.uk/fb.asp?m=2693553

EDIT: EPOC is somewhat over-rated. High-intensity exercise suppresses your appetite which is good, but your workout is already high-intensity.

Ok, thanks.

Sounds like I should go with 20 mins SSCV and see what happens

brittas -> RE: Carb timing question (May 9 2008 9:42:30)

I've just had another thought here.....

I could potentially go back to the gym in my lunch hour and do some cardio.

30 mins SSVC or 20 mins HIIT.

Anyone think that will work? As well as the 20 mins SSCV on a morning?

I've posted this in the cardio section but I just that I'd see what you guys thought about it.

theiopener -> RE: Carb timing question (May 9 2008 9:43:08)

do it whenever you get the chance mate [:)]

its all good

Cheers iopener, I appreciate your help.

Would you do HIIT or SSCV in the 30 mins at dinner time?

theiopener -> RE: Carb timing question (May 9 2008 9:48:30)

sscv for me

HIIT with weights a few times week tends to fry my cns a little

K, I'll give it a go. 20 mins on a morning, 30 mins at lunch time.

danchubbz -> RE: Carb timing question (May 9 2008 10:38:02)

Good commitment Brittas, I'm impressed.

Be sure not to train yourself into a rut, so much so you'll lose all motivation and drive to go which can happen when u try and spend all your spare time in the gym.

I'm only sat working at lunchtime so going to the gym will be a positive thing.... I hope.

I missed my morning session due to traffic this morning, so I'm going to have a quick one at lunchtime to see how much time I've got.

It's the only way to get cardio in.

Whats your opinion on the lunchtime session? SSCV or HIIT?

if your low carbing I'd stick with SSCV
