Just a few examples from the last few days, which have got me thinking people are getting ruder and more wound up than ever. I hate humans sometimes. Last night in Tesco petrol station, while next in line at the queue to pay .... a late 20s woman comes in, pushes in front of me then asks the cashier "are there are fcuking public houses round here?" Cashier says: "Excuse me, what?" She says: "Are you fcuking deaf, public houses." He looks at me, a bit worried. I say: "Pubs" back to him. She butts in with with "What the fcuk's it got to do with you, you cheeky sh1t?" I feel obliged to shove her out the door as she raises her hands, presumably to slap or grab at me. Next example: Woman cuts me up on the dual carriageway, forcing me onto the grass. 30 seconds later, she does the same to a Kangoo van driver. She then pulls off into the city centre, cuts two more cars up on a roundabout then gets to another roundabout, gets in the left lane but goes right, cutting up the bloke in the correct lane. They have a wee crash. She doesn't stop and continues driving into a shopping centre car park, followed by me, Kangoo man, the bloke with a dented wing and two others. She parks in a disabled space when she isn't, tells us all to "fcuk off" then goes into the shop. Plod is called, who waits for her to return to breathalyse her. She kicks off with him and is promptly arrested. Final example: Shopping the other night with the missus, a bloke tw4ts her with his trolley - he's walking toward her, then veers into her path. All the missus says is "ow", then holds her leg. The bloke says "well move your fcuking ar5e next time", not realising the red-faced, about-to-explode bloke coming up the aisle is her husband (me). A few stern words and a wee threat turn him from an aggressive ar5e to a coward, but what a bully in the first place. These kind of things seem to be happening on an every-few-days basis. Is it the area or Britain in general these days?

Very restrained-I would have force fed him washing up liquid through his nose until the wife had finished the shopping

You certainly do get them don't you? Did you do something evil and now the gods are punishing you?

Depends where you live, areas with less people are generally much friendlier I've found. There's too many people crammed onto this little island, and what with the Government screwing everyone tighter and tigher. People generally live fast, stress filled lives and work long hours. All contributing factors I reckon. Living close to where I work has made me much more chilled out, - I know longer experience stress from commuting in heavy traffic with irate drivers, and I have more leisure time also.

sign of the times i expect, i still think most people are basically good. but there are plenty that have just got lost in the rat race and so on and just dont know what it means to be civil anymore. I think we can learn a lot about being social from other countries around the world where knowing your neighbours and spending time simply talking to people is pretty much top of the agenda.

because they know that if you give them a clip behind the ear you will have everyone from police to lawyers breathing down your neck. society as a whole IMO has grown weaker to stand on their two feet and take the repurcutions of their actions

Its usually people on benefits who dont have any respect in general who go around disrespecting people.

common courtesy and manners are the exception nowadays rather than the rule people have no interest in doing or saying anything unless it is for their benefit with a lot of them they wouldn't understand even if you do point out the error of their ways

the parents are to blame IMO, the way they are brought up explains a lot.

perhaps we can all take some blame though, if we dont make an effort to talk more ourselves then its not helping the matter but yeah parenting has a large influence, family life in general being far too separated etc. people living separate lives virutally in the same house etc

Manners cost nothing, but not everybody possesses them. It winds me up.

I think its down to peoples attitude towards each other and the fact no one seems to say please or thank you. Ive held doors open for people without a thank you or even so much as a nod, and its the same with giving way in traffic so as a result I think it makes people think why bother being curtios when no one else seems to bother.

Some people are just ignorant. As someone has said, manners don't cost a thing. I kicked off at a boss at work last week as I waited and held a door only for him to walk through without saying a word. It's a good job he didn't know me!!
