Hi fellas,

As i can't make or consume any meat in my house it was suggested to me by a member of muscletalk that i should try Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP).. Does anybody know of any decent, quick and easy to make recipies containing TVP (soya protein), bearing in mind that i'm looking to cut and loose bodyfat at the moment??

This TVP meal will be consumed in the evenings around 9pm, just after i've finished training.
The type of TVP that i've bought is minced soya protein... and i've got some stock cubes for flavour.

Thanks for your input..

Stupid question. Why can't you make or consume any meat in your house, by the sound of it you are not a vegan/vegeterian?

Some good recipes there that can be used with either meat or TVP.

Hey Robm... I love meat, especially chicken so i cant get enought of it, but i've recently moved back in with my parents & they're strict vegetarians and dont want any form of meat in the house. i always have either chicken or turkey for lunch and a snack (for lunch at work), but for dinner (at home) i'd prefer to have some TVP or qourn as oppose to curry and chapati, which is normally what there is for dinner.. not a healthy option as i'm looking to cut up. my new diet is as follows:

08:45 - 2 weetabix with milk, protein shake with water & pure cod liver oil capsule
11:30 - 1 apple and a handful of almonds, protein shake with water
13:30 - 1 roast chicken breast with brown rice (sometimes i'll have it with brown pasta for variation) and vegetables (carrots, cucumber, lettuce, sweetcorn, tomatoes etc..)
16:00 - 1 banana, 2 oat cakes & 2 turkey breast slices
19:30 - TRAINING FOR 1 HOUR (either weights or cardio)
20:45 - protein shake with water and dextrose powder, 1 tablespoon of flax seed oil
21:00 - Textured vegetable protein or quorn with vegetables
23:45 - Protein shake with milk before bed

I do full body workouts with weights on Mon, Wed, Fri and cardio on Tues, Thurs & Sat.
A quick question, if you have the answer... Is this diet okay for days that i'm hitting weights and doing cardio? or should i be looking to reduce my food intake on cardio days??

Use the TVP mince in exactly the same way you would use normal mince, i.e. lasagne, shepherds pie, chilli, moussaka etc etc.

Remember it is rather tasteless to say the last, so you need to use stronger flavourings than you would normally use I think.

Quorn is good, made into a curry as the flavours are so strong from the spices and curry powder etc.

Soak it in vegetable stock is the way to do it.

What did you soak it in, and for how long?
