Hi guys, I've been training with weights on and off for the past 3 years now and have made some good gains.. the only problem being i haven't really done any form of cardio for over 6 years now and have decided to start doing cardio so thet i can get leaner and fitter and cut up. I train with weights 3 times a week on Mon, Wed, Fri and my diet now is pretty good. I'm looking to do cardio on tues, thursday and sat, with a complete rest on sunday. I did some cycling yesterday (outdoors on a mountain bike) and after only 15 mins i was suprised to find that my thigh muscles were really starting to hurt, not so much on the joints, but only on the muscles ( i used to think i had alot of strenght in my legs as i'm quit good with the weights). also i found myself out of breath, but this i think is down to the fact that i've smoked since i was 16 and i'm now 24 (but i've now quit smoking and it's been a week ) Bearing this in mind, i have 2 questions: 1) Will the muscle ache i experience from cycling downside the more i cycle in the forthcoming weeks? (i'm guessing because i havent done any cycling / running for 6 years could be why it was hurting) 2) Is there anything else i can do to last longer without being out of breath so badly (even after i stopped cycling i found myself out of breath for nearly 5 mins at least)? i've already stopped smoking... i really want to get lean without loosing muscle, so to up my cardio, i was looking to do unfuelled ss cardio in the morning with my bike for 20 mins intiially (will increase as i get fitter) and then fuelled HIIT running in the evenings after work (around 7:30pm).. does this sound like a good idea?
