Move out. You'd be amazed how much better you'll get on with your dad once you are supporting yourself. This will give you both space and be able to resolve both of your's issues.

I'd find a job and get my own place. Then once you've got rid of the stress at home you can start to work out what you want to do.

Rent a place with friends if you can. Won't be much more expensive than what you currently pay, and will be more fun

Get a job, doesn't have to be full time if you don't want, but you need some money coming in or your 2 grand will soon become 0 grand

Nice one mate, I made some disastrous decisions both financially and socially a couple years ago that put the breaks on progression and it's only now I've wanted to really start moving up

PW, take the advice on board and get down the job centre. Failing that smartening yourself up and just walking round places asking for work sometimes helps too. Also treat every interview as if you were going for prime minister. I wore a suit for my interview at Dominos

Not so good these days Cass - things have gone a bit quiet, fears of a recession I guess.

On topic

I think you've been given some sensible advise about moving out and accepting any work, even as a temporary measure. I'm sure it would improve your situation no end.

my first step would be to rent a room in a shared house, you will feel 10 times better and will meet some new people and it is a damn site cheaper than renting a whole flat or house alone.....what area do you live in?

If you was in my situation:

No job
Good GCSE'S
No qualifications
Experience in Flooring and Tiling

A couple of grand in an ISA

Living in a house with my dad, who is a borderline alcoholic and because he doesnt drink every night(but most nights) as soon as he comes home from work he is always stressy, especially considering he works long hours and is ALWAYS moaning at me. Arguing all the time about pointless stuff and he always puts me down.

I pay £40 a week and my dad doesnt get ANY food, I buy all my food, wash my clothes etc (treated like a tenant which I wouldnt mind if he treated me like an adult). But he is just messed up because drink controls him I think. If it wasnt for his passion of motor bikes and always working on them he'd drink every night.

I think my options are;
Go travelling (clear my mind find myself spiritually)
Rent a place (got the money to last a while even without working, but id get a job on agency)
Obviously I need to get a job but atm my dad is just destroying my soul.

So what would you do if you was in my situation?

If it were me and I had the chance over, I would definitely have gone travelling.

I jumped straight into my career after Uni, and lots of my mates have been and done their travelling and I haven't done anything

Same as TUC said mate, get yourself into a houseshare and get working ASAP. You will make friends from doing both, and those changes in your life will boost your confidence and self esteem.
Sounds like your really low at the moment mate but its only you that has the power to change your life for the better.

I came out of jail in 2001 with no job, money, home and just the clothes i was wearing. Got temp work, then stopped sofa surfing and got a bedsit. Got driving licence and then better jobs. Have made friends through work and housesharing and life is a lot better. But i had to pick myself up when i was at rock bottom and keep pushing onwards and upwards to improve my life.
You have got your arms and legs mate and it seems decent health. Theres only one thing stopping you getting your ass in gear and thats your low self esteem and confidence. You really need to dig deep to make these changes and you will feel like a new person in no time
