a think a lot of homeowners will be taking in lodgers soon to be able to afford their mortgages

and having recently been on a course that covers aspects of law can inform pw that redhotf's offer constitutes a legal and binding contract that he may exercise if he so wishes

personally mate i think you need a change of scenary before you have a melt down!
i would try and keep hold of your savings if you can then you always have something to fall back on! if you can do it fiancially by running a couple of jobs get a place or do a share just to get you out of the house, even if it is only for a little while it will do you good.
has your dad been for any help or have you tried to get him any?? sounds awful mate hope you can get things sorted

I would definately go travelling mate. You'll see the world and meet lots of new people.
Thats one of my few regrets also. I jumped straight into work got a flat at 18 and i wish i had taken 6 months or a year or so out.
£2000 would go a long long way in asia or south america

further to me saying move out to a house share (see my link in my previous post for the bristol gumtree accomodation section) I would say just take a job, any job, it will get money in your pocket, you may meet some decent people you never know and it may help you decide what you want to do

I also would be 99% sure that you moving out would improve relatioships with your dad, from his point of view you are always there, not got a job and he works hard, so you can see how things could get frought.

the thing is and I'm not preaching (maybe I am, but I'll say I'm not) no-one is gonna hand you a nice life on a plate, you've got to get out there and work...it may seem hard and like a mountain, but as long as you keep taking one step at a time you will get there, also remember to try and enjoy thee journey too

I would try and help my dad if I was you mate.

But failing that, rent a place and get a job, plenty jobs available in the construction industry with good pay.

here's some bristol job adverts that look alright, they may not be your dream job, but will help towards getting a job you do like or want to do

That one would be perfect for you.

Like has been said, get a job sorted, anything that gets a wage in, get a room in a shared house/flat (doesnt really matter who u live with just keep to yourself if u want to) and then take it from there

I agree with Tuc, he talks sense (usually)

I'd go to Australia on a work visa, get a shared house in bondi and get any job and not waste the money on the p*ss, keep hold of it.
A change of scene will clear your mind and make you realise what life has to offer.

£2000 would probably go quite far in Thailand., or work for a while and save up some more to be sure

Why not get urself digs in a Muay Thai boxing camp over there, learn to box, be fit as anything and live a really good life for very little money

A friend of mine did this for a couple of years, and if he hadnt managed to run someone over when pissed and have to leave the country said he had no intention of coming back

Go travelling mate. I regret not doing it i when i could have done.

It will give you some time to think what it is you really want to do in life, meet new people, see the world and have a great time.

Yiddos idea above sounds quite good.

@ Yiddo,

That sounds awesome! Definitely would consider that, I think fighting/intense hardcore fighting training cleanses the soul.

How much would I need to go and do that?

What if you got no experience in martial arts, apart from like yellow belt in tang siu do aged 10.

All this travelling talk sounds wonderful but my advice would be to keep your head out of the clouds, find a job and move home. You can always do it further down the line with more disposable pennies to play with

You say that as if travelling is only a dream and not an option open to him.
Surely it would be better to go travelling now while he has no job/house/etc ?
