You're actually trying to cause potentially fatal accidents, because you don't like horses?

That is rather odd

its going to be law i believe soon

The EU are talking about introducing it Europe wide.Motorcycle groups are opposed because they say that when a bike has its light on it stands out.If everyone had them on it would get lost among the sea of lights.

As galenkia said, it has been touted by the EU but there is the CO2 issue that comes with it. It'll likely only apply in the winter months IF it comes in.

I always have my lights on. In fact I don't even turn them off, since my car automatically shuts them off when you kill the ignition.

It makes you easier to see and is proven to reduce road accidents. Some people have asked me why, and that's all it is.

As for "it will increase fuel consumption". It really won't noticably. They're usually rated at 45 watts these days, and maybe 5 watts for the tail lamps. In round figures that's 100 watts in total, or just under 1/7ths of a horsepower. And that's if you use main beams. Use sidelights and it's considerably less. When you consider that a car will be using significantly over 10hp just to tootle along at 60mph you realise that the drain of the lights is neither here nor there. Not really significant compared to the cost of having that truck turn across you at 60mph.....

all of you are missing the point

motorbikes ave their lights on so people see them, if cars have their lights on less people will see bikes

you might as well take certain colours off the road as well , as colours like grey/ silver and green have been shown to be less likely spotted.

1/7th of a horsepower x how many cars are in the EU?

Bikers can just turn out their lights, then all we have to look for is the dark spaces in the sea of lights!!

Wouldnt they realistically just have to start outfitting every car with LEDs to make it feasable?

I dont see it working or helping TBH, im trying to see the logic, if you cant distiguish A car coming at you what are some dimmed lights gonna do.

Driving in the sun again, your eyes arnt gonna make any consession because their is a light source, it wouldnt be enough to cut threw the glare, your visor will be down anyways, and really you should own a good pair of sunglasses the help this.

I drive with sidelights on all the time, its a biker habit ive retained it helps keep you a tad more visible to other road users, kind of heightens your perception due to the fact it sticks out more than cars that dont do it

But you can see the irony here?....its like when Allister Campbell came back on Police, Camera, Action after being banned for drink driving!

personally i dont see a problem with lights on unless they are full beam. it's been shown to be clearly safer and as such volvos have done that for years and years now

you know full well you're using this thread as some sort good cars Vs sh1t cars. its blatant to see, you've mentioned it 2-3 times.

i always used to think you were sound and harmless enough, you're fast becoming a troll in my eyes.

shame mate, as siad you used to be sound but have come back with this elitist posh kid attitude. your rubbing people up the wrong way and probably enjoying it, not very good for the board imo.
