Worried about losing muscle. Gained a lot of fat on the bulk (as intended) and now i'm trying to limit the carbs to hopefully lose some fat and retain as much of the muscle as I can. Constantly hungry (every hour and a half) and I don't know what to eat? Will protein alone me enough to suppress the hunger?
When does your body break down muscle tissue for energy? What's the best way to get these abs back whilst keeping the muscle? Keep the carbs before and after workout? Last thing I want is to lose what has taken me so long to achieve.

Thanks, Markus.

kinda wanted to know more on the cardio. Obviously different exercises do different things but I only want to decrease the bodyfat slightly to see the abs again. Is any exercise fine for this like exercise bike? When's an advisable time to do cardio, before/after workout or on a nontraining day? For how long?

What times is it essential to have the carbs? First thing in the morning and before a workout...everywhere else can be cut out?

first you overdid the bulk. too hungry too soon on a cut is a sign of overdoing the cut. aim for a steady weight loss of 1-2 lbs and up your food intake accordingly

i find spacing your carbs throughout the day with a good amount around w/o works great for most

all cardio, any time is ok. i'd advise you to eat something beforehand. an hour or so. on to your cardio, aim for 30 minutes a few times a week on your off days to begin with

Yeah youre right R3 I overdone the bulk badly. But I don't know what to do now I'm constantly hungry? Do I just not eat when I'm hungry and eventually it will stop? Wont the body burn muscle tissue if I don't eat when I'm hungry. Or shall I jusdt eat protein when I'm hungry not carbs....that's gonna be a tonne of chicken everyday. Dilemma.

When does your body break down muscle tissue for energy?
1) When your body burns more glycogen than you have stored (i.e. too much intense exercise on too little carb intake).
2) When you starve yourself.
Are you doing either of these things?

Well I get hungry like every hour and a half because I over did my bulk and put a lot of weight on quite quickly. Now I want to lose some, I have such high metabolism I think I will lose weight by limiting the carbs without the cardio, but i'll experiment with both. Basically I want to find the best way of burning fat and maintaing muscle....worried about what I can do about the appretite as I'm hungry so frequently and I realise I cant eat to that magnitutude if I want to decrease my body fat.

If you eat 1g of protein for every lb bodyweight, fuel your workouts properly with carbs & get your EFAs, there's no reason why you should lose muscle.

Yeah I'm just being paranoid about losing muscle.
Is there anything I can do about being hungry all the time? What shall I eat for snacks on a cut when trying to limit carbs?

i would review what your eating and making sure your eating enough generally and specifically fat

also eat alot of green veg like brocolli - this will help bulk out your meals not to mention the added fibre benefits

are you sure your drinking enough water?

As Nige said you won't lose muscle

HOWEVER extremes lead to extremes

before you know it you're back where you started

take things slow
