Hi guys, I posted a thread a while back about cutting my body fat: http://www.muscletalk.co.uk/m_2525935/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm#2525935 The diet was similar to the thread above although there was obviosuly variations in the meals, i.e. beef/turkey/fish instead of chicken etc. I ate some fruit, mostly apples and some strawberries and bananas and added some yoghurts (Muller Light approx. 100 cal). I also used fish oil to get some Omega 3's and that. On this diet and a good addition of extra cardio (5-a-side football/fasted AM cardio approx 5-6.5 miles/HITT on bike and treadmill) I've lost over a stone and I'm happy with how I'm looking and feeling but now it's time to bulk soon I think. I've been recovering from a boxers fracture and it's been about 8 weeks since the injury but I'm going to give it another 3-4 weeks to recover fully before any heavy weights so I will continue with the cardio and light weights / body weight exercises. My query is, when going from a cut to a bulk should I stagger the increase in calories or just go for it full pelt. I'm 5 foot 7-5 foot 8 and weight approx 140lbs with around 11% body fat according to my scales, which may ormay not be accurate but I've come down to 11% body fat from around high 16% body fat. I've lost a little muscle mass - nothing major but this would be mainly due to the stopping of weight training after hurting my knuckle. I'm eating around 1800 - 1900 calories most days and have a cheat meal once a week, usually Friday night chinese takeaway or fish and chips as well as usually eating a few more carbs on the weekend to help with the metabolism. Do you think it would be wise to go from 1900 calories right to 3000 calories for a Bulk? Any advice would be much appreciated. Also, I've naively bought some Thermobol from Maximuslce a few months ago but haven't used it in cutting - should I use this for the last few weeks of cutting before changing to a bulk? I haven't needed it with the diet and training doing the trick but maybe it couldn't hurt to use it for an extra push against the fat?

Well, for the first while I think it will be hard to measure actual muscle gains as there will be an increase in food and likely water. 6lb doesn't sound that much over a year. I'm only coming in around 140lbs and would hope I can add a good bit more on my first bulk but maybe I'm being unrealistic. I'd love to achieve 160lbs by Christmas at approx 10% body fat. Thats 20lbs. Sounds a bit optimistic now from your advice but it can't hurt to give it a go. Aim for a stars and you might reach the sky and all that. :p

Hi guys, thanks for all the replies. I appreciate your comments and time taken to reply. I'm hoping to give it a good shot. Either way, I know progress is longer than 6 months or even 12 months. It's a lifetime thing.
