Pikeman - you don't *have* to train legs. It's just generally accepted that an overly muscular upper body coupled with a pair of legs akin to a 12 year old school girl doesn't look right.

Saying that though, to many people a 50" chest, 19" arms and 30" thighs doesn't look right either. These non-weight trainers however are wrong

We all have different aims with our training. Some aim to get as massive as humanly possible using whatever means are at their disposal and plan to stand on stage at some time.
Some aim to get stronger only and have no desire for sculpted shoulders, arms and abs.
Some do it to enable them to perform their chosen sport better.
Some do it as something to do with their mates a few times a week.
And some simply choose to try and be in better physical shape than their peers, whether that's having bigger arms, bigger upper body or bigger body per se.

They're all perfectly acceptable reasons to train but some 'purists' of the iron game may throw scorn at you and look down their nose because you choose not to train your legs. Just be aware of that.

good reply thanks i dont have weedy legs or anything they are pretty strong and big already , if any bigger then i would need all new jeans

Titch - did you read Scruffy's thread in General at all? This is the Beginner's forum so please treat posts and posters in here with slightly more respect than you do in General.
Thanks.

Lol you may have to buy new jeans but if you want to look like sly that means you want to be fairly lean eventually, and the slabs of metabolically active muscle tissues on your legs will come in very handy!

not being funny but sly's physique is achievable in my opinion naturally

what weight do we think he actually was? id be interested to see his (real) stats

agree with lmc all physiques are achievable except maybe rocky balboa as he is 60 odd

for the record he was on hgh for rocky 6, not all the films

Howdy pikeman me and you both aspire to have a body like Sly This probably won't be of much use but I'll go ahead and mention it anyways.

I just recently got myself a trap bar ( I heard that these bars are good if you have back probs and are good if you don't have spotters plus I'm just not suited to squats) Anyway I'm just starting out and so am far from being an expert on lifting equipment but I gotta say for me It's the best money I spent on a bar, the fact you don't need to worry about failing with the weight and it deffinatly doesn't put as much stress on the lower back as the RBLD, I would love to be able to squat but I know I just can't do it safely so this is a great alternative

Yup I grew up watching the old rocky films... Have to admit to not seeing the latest 6, but my fave is 4 that Dolph lundgren guy was a pretty big guy also.

I'd say once you get legs like Sly's just keep doing the same thing, Legs are most deffinatly my weakest body part by far... hell what I need is just to bulk up period but legs are small in comparison to the rest of me. So for sure if over the next year or so I could add even 1 inch to my drain pipe cleaner legs I'd be over the moon

I'll wager you'll never get them to the size you want.
They'll get bigger. You'll like the look of bigger legs. You'll want them to be even bigger. You'll train them harder. They'll get bigger. They'll still not be big enough.
Continue until you stop training

There's guys on here that struggle to find trousers that they can get to fit. They certainly don't stop training legs because of it though.

I've never known someone to stop training because they got too big.
I've met many that stopped because they were too small and didn't grow.

youre on the only reason why i havent been training legs ( apart from them already been fairly big ) is that i dont like the look of big legs , same as i dont like overly huge upper bodies either ( no offence to anyone ) but that could always change when i get bigger
