FatboyGinger -> RE: what physique? (May 7 2008 22:55:27)

sorry to break the news to you but sly stallone was on large amounts of Human Growth Hormone, during and before the filming of the movie, hence he can look like a 30 year old at 60.
Routine looks pretty good IMO

Dave284 -> RE: what physique? (May 7 2008 23:17:26)

If you seriously aspire to look like sly then that looks like a good start for an upper body routine, but you will have to train legs at some stage!

pikeman121 -> RE: what physique? (May 8 2008 7:10:35)

fatboyginger but i can still get like that just take longer right?[:)] hi dave i will maybe train legs at a later stage but i really dont think they need any and i dont want them any bigger[:)]
thanks for replies[;)]

pikeman121 -> RE: what physique? (May 8 2008 21:44:51)

anyone else ?[:)]

strikalite -> RE: what physique? (May 8 2008 22:33:10)

IMO I think you're doing to much...I'd go for(with the exercises you have put down)....

Mon

shoulder press 4x8
side raise 4x8
shrugs 3x8

Tues

pull-ups 4x8
close grip row 4x8
ez bar curl 3x8-10
hammer curl 2x6-8

thurs

bench press 4x8
weighted dips 4x8-10
skull crushers 3x8

thats what I would do...

Mad Manic -> RE: what physique? (May 9 2008 0:35:07)

Sly's physique is achievable naturally with commitment and decent genetics IMO. BritBB and a few others achieved it natural in about 2 years, and size wise I'm there but need to diet down. No point pointing to HGH as the answer, that's just looking for a cop out IMO. He might have used a bit as it's tough going at 60 but there's nothing to suggest he used it when under 45 IMO. Don't point to drugs to discredit someone's physique, that's lame.

pikeman121 -> RE: what physique? (May 9 2008 8:45:04)

ok thanks for replies[:)] yeh i dont want any drugs to help me i want to do it naturally with just protein shakes [:)] it doesnt say he took anything in his book but then why would he put that[8|]

Lord Monkcheese -> RE: what physique? (May 9 2008 13:20:22)

In the US the use pf PED is illegal so publically stating his drug use would be very naive and would most likely land him with prosecution.

Neb -> RE: what physique? (May 9 2008 14:36:04)

LOL....this thread has the makings of winning 'the most naive posters all in the same place' award.

Any routine without legs (unless you're physically incapable) is sh1t....IMO.

Good luck getting Sly's physique on just protein shakes mate

No I'm not saying that at all. However, at 60, I would be very surprised if you could get a physique like his naturally. Obviously he has worked hard to look like he does.
And to answer your question pikeman, a couple of years of hard work(depending on your starting point), and his size is perfectly achievable naturally.

Lord M.- He was definitely on HGH, when filming in Australia, the Australian customs confiscated his Jintropin. He did admit to taking them aswell on a chat show(and defending the use of them).

cleg -> RE: what physique? (May 9 2008 14:57:32)

Its crazy to set your sights on what somebody else looks like mate.Stallone had an admirable physique but trying to emulate somebody when you dont have his resources or genetics is a recipe for disappointment.You may have better genetics,dont get me wrong.You could copy his routine,diet,supplemet regime and still look nothing like him cos what works for one person might not work for somebody else.If you really want to make progress you should include some kind of leg work.

True - and a quick google search comes up with many links of him definding his use but putting the charges down to being unaware of Australian law.

Sounds more like he was trying to justify getting caught with them rather than simply fighting the cause of PEDs. I can't imagine he's have pubically mentioned his useage if he hadn't been caught.

Anyway, Stallone's physique changed considerably through the films from "athletic" to "muscular"

Rocky 1 & 2 is very easily achievable
Rocky 3 is achievable
Rocky 4 and on is still achievable but for a 60 year old, some help is obviously going to be required.

Titch - did you read Scruffy's thread in General at all? This is the Beginner's forum so please treat posts and posters in here with slightly more respect than you do in General.
Thanks.

I thought you two were the same guy [:D]

My bad - I meant you Neb.

And Titch can have the post above as a pre-emptive warning [:)][;)]

pikeman121 -> RE: what physique? (May 9 2008 16:04:24)

cheers everyone[:)] rocky 1 and 2 is what im aiming for and is perfectly good enough for me[:)] i just dont get why everyone tells me to do legs? [:)]

DaveyL -> RE: what physique? (May 9 2008 19:37:33)

Cos bulging chest and biceps honestly look awful with weedy legs. Plus, although there is some debate on this, there is a indication that training legs may increase the growth hormone throughout the body to increasing muscle gain in upper body.

Also, i'd say it'd be much better to have a strong all round strength than be able to bench a bus, but not stand up unassisted [:D]

Dave

Lord Monkcheese -> RE: what physique? (May 9 2008 19:57:04)

Pikeman - you don't *have* to train legs. It's just generally accepted that an overly muscular upper body coupled with a pair of legs akin to a 12 year old school girl doesn't look right.

Saying that though, to many people a 50" chest, 19" arms and 30" thighs doesn't look right either. These non-weight trainers however are wrong [:D]

We all have different aims with our training. Some aim to get as massive as humanly possible using whatever means are at their disposal and plan to stand on stage at some time.
Some aim to get stronger only and have no desire for sculpted shoulders, arms and abs.
Some do it to enable them to perform their chosen sport better.
Some do it as something to do with their mates a few times a week.
And some simply choose to try and be in better physical shape than their peers, whether that's having bigger arms, bigger upper body or bigger body per se.

They're all perfectly acceptable reasons to train but some 'purists' of the iron game may throw scorn at you and look down their nose because you choose not to train your legs. Just be aware of that.
