Hi guys! ive been gyming it 4 a good long while now, and decided i needed a change of scenery. i just started kickboxing-with-thai-rules on a monday and thursday. obviously im using muscles im not used to, and others in different ways as well, so im a bit sore at the mo. i was wondering, as my body gets used to it, i would like to go the gym around it, but not sure how often (what nights), or what type of workouts to do? i dont really want to over/undertrain my muscles! sorry if something like this has been asked a million times before!

http://www.rossboxing.com/ have a look there mate, if your only doing kickboxing as a hobby then continue to lift bodybuilding style. If your looking to compete then your going to have to adjust your workouts.

not sure to be honest? the description does sound a bit mad! i think you just learn both! ive been 6 times and up to now, ive done a mixture! im goin to have a blimp at that ross boxing website tonight. I started initially with the idea of just doing it for fitness, but apparently im a natural according to the fella training us- bit of a confidence booster! might just see how it goes, as i always tend to totally throw myself into stuff, and it fizzles out not long down the line!

im happy to lose a bit of fat, but i dont want to lose to much muscle you see. I know my body shape will definitely change due to the difference in training, im just hoping for a little more tone! im 6ft3 and 16 stone. i was always a lank as a kid and although im not massive, im happy with my round-about size. p.s. my body fat is quite high though- around 20-21%!

Mate, I've come to the conclusion after reading many many posts from different sites, etc... that if you want to keep most of your mass, martial arts isn't the way forward. This is the problem I have.. I'd like to start Martial Arts again, but don't want to lose any bodyweight.. infact i'd like to increase it.. I think my love for pumping iron beats my wanting to start MA... Time to choose...

i was waiting for someone to say that! just didnt want to admit it to myself! i love the gym, but maybe trying something else for a bit might be beneficial? ive gained the mass before, and i cant really see me losing that much? or will i? ive seen large mma and k1 fighters, so i know if i want both, i can have both! but i have to admit watching someone fight, like george st pierre, is much more entertaining than the massive guys! plus i think i would rather have his build too!
