I know I should go to the docs but i thought i'd ask on here before, just incase it's nothing.

I tested my blood pressure yesterday and it came out 108 over 57, resting heart rate 55. I was told that this is quite low. I must admit that for the last week, when i train I get light headed. Should i really be that concerned or is there anything that I can eat/ take to help bring it back up to niormal.

That is a bit low. What's the textbook average blood pressure, about 120/80 I think. I had mine done at the Drs last week and it was 123/78 or something, pleased with that.

If I was you I would certainly visit the Docs just to be checked out and make sure all is well and can be certain of an accurate reading also.

Cheers for coming back.

I'm going to get another reading later on and if it's still low i'll book an appointment with the doctor.

I shouldn't worry about it too much. Your systolic pressure is fine and your diastolic is only mildly hypotensive. It may be a result of the hot weather - blood pressure is lower in the summer and higher in the winter. That being said, if you continue to feel lightheaded then you need to be checked out. Maybe monitor your blood pressure over the next week or so and if you still have concerns then have a word with your GP.

I agree with paul. Thats not too low at all but if you are feeling light headed then you may be getting sudden drops in blood pressure throughout the day. See the doc just to be sure and tell him.
Mine fluctuates throughout the year. In summer, the lowest ive measured it at was 85/45. But I still felt fine and rarely feel dizzy and never pass out etc.

just keep an eye on it, my BP is pretty low sometimes and I feel fine. when i had my pre-op assesment for knee surgery the nurse took the reading 3 times coz she didnt believe that it could be as low as it was. I dont remember what it was, but i know it was lower than 'text book safe'.

Keep an eye on it or if it is playing on your mind I'm sure your GP would be able to put ure mind at rest or help you out if there is something up. Also now the weather is getting warmer make sure your getting plenty of fluids as that can have an effect on your BP

I have consitant low BP. Again I don't know exactly what it is but have had it checked by the Dr's and he said ...Yup you've got low BP and that's why you go dizzy when you stand up sometimes. Answer when asked what to do was 'Nowt' lol. When I was in hospital last year for an op my 'normal' BP was quite a bit lower than text book normal. One of the nurses actuallu said to me that if my BP went up to the text book normal then she would be worried as that wouldn't be normal for me. It can be a bummer when it's warm as the wooozy head standy up thing happens constantly...even just getting up out of a chair but I just expect it and am used to it now!
