fraser -> D&N forum ?? (May 8 2008 15:12:57)

It's getting really wierd... I don't post much anymore but everytime i login it seems to be going through another weird trend

For ages it was "seperate carbs & fat- eat whichever you need at that particular time in small regular meals bla bla..."

Then everyone went carbcrazy and every OP was told "eat more carbs"

Now the trend is "eat whenever you want"

I don't get it [&:]

Fair enough if you'd been saying this all along- but it seems like someone posts a study, folk latch onto an idea, then that becomes the trend for a while before another one comes along!

This is in general because i don't want a dietary debate, it's more to do with the nature of the forum really

CoNs -> RE: D&N forum ?? (May 8 2008 15:18:52)

tbh i think it is healthiest to just eat a balance of all macro's aslong as they are relatively clean

other than that i wouldn't advocate like other people do

most of the time if someone is big/lean and they are on the banana only diet, everyone seems to start pushing it

joys of the internet

IMO it's due to the fact that on this board there are a handful of really clued up D&N gurus and hundreds of plastic gurus.

The pastic gurus spout the proper gurus pre given advice all year long....but, when one of the real gurus posts suggesting another angle...well, palstic gurus are knackered and have to change their plastic advice.

3-style -> RE: D&N forum ?? (May 8 2008 15:57:14)

Its always swings and roundabouts in the D&N section.. And quite frankly I find some of the posts overanalysed to a fart.

In my humble experience and opinion, nutrition is one of those areas where you really do have to find out what works for you and go from there. Even more so than training in this regard.

So you experiment. Try a few different strategies and see what yields the best results.

Some guys can process carbs like the clappers. Shoving hundreds of grams down their gullets and processing them no problem.

Someone like myself does best with a moderate intake. For me unbridled carb consumption makes me bloated, lethargic, depressed and generally looking like sh1te.

Find what works for you.

so what your saying is people should just eat, not worry about details and just get on with it?

http://www.muscletalk.co.uk/m_2693408/tm.htm

diet and bodybuilding is as complex as you want it to be, but anyone can walk into a gym and throw some iron about. stick with the same diet you've always been on and your limiting yourself massively. basically, more thought should go into diet than it should what routine you/split you should be on imo.

as for the D&N forum, its very rare i post in there now, simply because i've stepped away from studying nutrition for the time being, and havent been as enthusiastic about it. so i havent really seen the shift in trends mentioned.

there are some really good posters in there though.

Not at all i just think sometimes its best to nail the basics and not **** yourself over the GI of a carb PPWO for example.

there is always exceptions to the rule though

R3261 -> RE: D&N forum ?? (May 8 2008 16:52:36)

this thread is lame

D & N Forum kicks ass

Tony Barnes -> RE: D&N forum ?? (May 8 2008 17:11:16)

lol, I have to skim the threads to a great degree, surprisingly focusing on fat ones, so haven't noticed much of a change...

James -> RE: D&N forum ?? (May 8 2008 17:26:18)

There are a bit of trends, but I think that's net wide and the norm for nutrition TBH - look at different diet fads.

We're lucky on MT as we have a decent number of bloody knowldgable folks on nutrition that would be hard to rival anywhere - even if I do say so myself.

Plus look out for new member David Barr - who we're bloody lucky to have on MT as he's known as a BBing nutrition guru net-wide - check his posts

great addition to the forum, read a fair bit his stuff in the past. look forward to reading some of his views.

theiopener -> RE: D&N forum ?? (May 8 2008 18:07:47)

it may be because people learn more and more as time goes on and their opinions of what works (and middle grounds for the majority to start from) changes

i havent noticed at much, i have been telling people to relax more on diet as being too strict and pedantic and too calculating yields little to no results

richsINS -> RE: D&N forum ?? (May 8 2008 23:48:12)

Well berardi had the no carb/fat thing, so seeing as hes a professional people pased that on to others.
Lyle mcdonald i believe, and others slated it/said it was incorrect and that was also passed on also and still gets debated. Then the eating every 3 hours was questioned, people learnt and now they pass on new knowledge.

PWO is now being discussed by David Barr in a "myth busted" article which has thrown up some cool stuff to debate.

Studys are discovered, released, science always changes so why is it a big shock when we discover something new?
The world is round, crazy **** - No doubt the geenral forum section of MT would have gone ape **** when that was discovered [:D]
