Hi guys,

Ive been training a few years now. my usual weight to hold was around 96-98 kilo. im currently hovering around 88-89 kilos. the weight seems to have dropped off without me aiming to! i hadnt really thought about it until the other night when i was told at the gym im looking alot smaller these days. so i weighed myself and wasnt too happy. plus - measuring my arms i found they're an inch smaller than before. im a little less chubby but really not much more than a pound or 2.

so to my training - im Drug Free, always have been.

im training 3 days per week

tuesday - leg day

thursday - chest and arms

saturday - back and shoulders.

i do around 12-16 sets for large muscle groups. for smaller muscle groups i opt for 8-12 sets (arms, calves, and abs)
i tend to pyramid up my weights, compound movements first up, isolation or machines to finish off.

...any suggestions please? its really dis heartening - ive had a few comments lately and cant workout why all the weight dropped off and doesnt want to creep back up. ideally id like to bulk up to more than my previous weight.

if you are losing weight then the diet has to be looked at first and formost, what you were eating then to what you are eating now, other things are you overtraining ?
sleep issues, stress ?

hi mate. i was thinking the same thing and have posted my diet in the diet forum, cos i wasnt too sure if i could here. it hasnt really changed though to be honest! the foods been steady.

i wouldnt say i was stressed at all. if anything my sleep is so much better now - 7.5-8 hours a night nowadays. ive scaled my training down to 3 days from 4 days a week also. as 4 days made me feel absolutely dead all the time, i was tired all day every day!

ps - sorry im also never too sure whether im over training or under training! i find it a difficult thing to judge. am i doing too much looking at my routine?

No magic secrets, you need to be in a calorie surplus to add weight and you need to be training hard in the gym, making strength progression a priority and also wearing down the fibres with lighter weights and higher reps as well. IMO reverse pyramiding is a better option as you shift more weight and thus volume in total and it has worked well for me. But ultimately, you have to be getting heavier and stronger, there are no magic secrets.
